He added: “The reason the practice is so common is that ordinary people see family inter-marriage overall as something that is very positive, something that helps build family bonds and helps put families on a more secure financial foothold.

Neither situation needed a law until recently. Pumping your cousin is fine, just think about the long term.

People who think that is how you bond with family should be removed from any family setting for the safety of those around them.

The UK has seen a rise in infant mortality, which has been linked to this practice among the Muslim communities in the UK. This is probably what motivates this legislation. It is evidence based.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm sure the rise in infant mortality has nothing whatsoever to do with the NHS being underfunded, though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

This is blatant ignorance and misinformation. Infant mortality is and has been decreasing outside the Muslim communities in the UK. The people trying to pass the laws are doing to stop Muslim children dieing.

Not only do children die because of it, they are also more likely to suffer illnesses and disability. Disability that impact their IQ and result in them making comments like yours.

We must not let this become a thing.

There is is no place for this in modern society. There was never any place for this in society.

Stone age practices should have been left in the stone age.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

That has always been a thing. It was just not systematic, pairs are not always made of cousins in a family. Catholism have historically forbid mariage btw I-don't-remember-how-very-far of degree but you would get a dispense by any local cury with the reason "but I do want to marry him/her".

If it wasn't so common, there would be no need to ban it.
