I think this kind of treatment, more than anything, is going to inspire copycats. The media's reporting on school shooters has tangibly been linked to an increase in those incidents because people want their message out.

They're making him look really fucking cool.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is not completely their fault. I mean when your talking about one of the most badass figures in all of history its going to be next to impossible for him to not look cool.

They really should consider doing active shooter drills at their next board meeting.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

Well, copycats will only boost ratings, so it might be intentional.

[–] [email protected] 56 points 2 days ago

Did the pilots really need to get out and "help" escort him too? Lol what a clown show.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He does look like a statue that escaped from the Vatican. I hadn't realized it yet.

I mean im not gay and I totally made fun of a roommate who loved greg lugannes and had a bunch of pictures of him in speedos but I could see a poster of this beautiful man.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

I’m not gay but I’d do him

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

I think it’s the pose, the face held up high in pride.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

They took him on a helicopter ride, a walking tour of the city, and bought him a fly new jumpsuit!

It feels deliberate at this point. Are they trying to pour gas on the fire for some reason? Like maybe they found CSAM on his home computer, so they are trying to chum the waters and make this guy the face of the rebellion so that when all is revealed, everyone who cheered for him will be demoralized. Is Thrawn working for the feds, maybe?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

there is absolutely nothing they can try to bring for him that would take away from his service for me. Especially in this age. Anything to bad im not going to believe because they have to much power and its to easy to fake and plant stuff.

It's not really about him. I don't think murdering people is the solution to any problem. But this incident is revealing an undercurrent of anger and frustration that has been too-long ignored. The revelation is the object lesson, not the murder. Rich people are more aware that they are not as insulated from the disasters to come.

Luigi doesn't need to be a saint, or a prophet, or a leader in any way. He took horrifying action because he is an outlier, and the world is full of outliers. People are murdered all the time, but the response shows that he wasn't that far outside the lines, and there are probably a lot more outliers wondering if they can be as famous.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

yeah I feel the same about murder but I know it happens all the time and most of the victims are way less deserving. Even the most just of wars is just a series of murders as is any law enforcement action that ends in death. So I would put this near the top of least concerning murder I know about in history. Somewhat not as bad as the murder of Mussolini for example.

Edit: Holy crap your edit changed the entire tone of my response. From "They are making this guy the face" to "they are setting him up with horrible stuff" really, really changes my response. Especially adding that CSAM bit.

So, my response below is him being treated in a way that brings recognition. Not about CSAM. Added the original comment before the expansive edit. I should really quote people more...

.... I'm OK with that.

I'm also OK with potential school shooters seeing this and thinking "Wow, people are going to remember this guy! Maybe...."

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, that's my bad. I could tell I hadn't been clear enough so I edited the comment, but your point is also accurate.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

No worries, I get it, it just really changed the meaning of what I said to pretty much the opposite lol

If school shooters were more precise and meticulous with their planning as to take out just the fucking worst asshole bullies. I don’t know if I am allowed to post my thoughts about that in this comm or should post it on the internet at all, but…

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I'd rather they just went for the real damaging degenerates. Like CEOs of healthcare companies.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe they secretly support him, but have to be tacit. Supporting any kind of violence is unfashionable lately, and media workers especially could lose their job.

But it's easy to delete all the other photos off your camera and say, "This is the only photo I got in focus."

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

I said before that even police officers have health insurance issues. I could totally see toeing the line officially while doing as much as I could. I would not be proactive at all if I was dealing with his stuff.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The guy in the right is the most NYPD looking guy I've ever seen.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

I can literally hear him speaking

[–] tigeruppercut 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He already showed up on [email protected]

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

it's amazing how they keep flanking him with the most miserable, evil-looking people you can imagine

They’re cops, what do you expect?
