The US uses lib to mean socially liberal, in opposition to the cons. The rest of the world uses it to mean fiscally liberal, as in support of not regulating capitalist markets, which is an anti worker position.
People often get pissy that a word can have more than one definition.
I got a tablet without a headphone jack, but it came with a usb-c to 3.5mm converter. Guess how often it complains that it's too "moist" or "dusty" to use the headphones through usb-c, even though it'll still charge during those times. Fuck these companies removing ports.
I recently had a look at which tablets (or phones) you could even get these days with a 3.5 jack, and virtually none of the flagship ones have it (though I think there may be some chinese ones). Most brands begrudgingly put one in their mid range. We need more shit like apple being forced onto usb-c because of the EU. I'm waiting for a demand for replaceable batteries again too. Not everyone wants a new phone every 3 years dickheads

That's basically the point though, right? Without astroturfing the tea party probably wouldn't have grown into maga. Compare the occupy wall st movement (as mentioned below)-- there was no corporate backing so it fizzled as soon as popular support couldn't sustain it. But money kept pumping into the tea party and it eventually metastasized into maga.
The tea party was astroturfed. There's no wealthy PACs propping up a movement of soc dems like AOC
