The hackers are gonna ram som' wares into my computer without my consent 😰

There was a brief moment in time when I clicked on the wrong Weird Al remix I found on Limewire and someone decided to use my computer to store and seed their games. Got to play a bunch of things I didn't have the money for. Good guy hacker?

I like to imagine that your Limewire Weird Al fan pulled up their hoodie and said "I'm in", as accordion music played hauntingly in the background

I just managed to pull the Ethernet plug before the RAMSOMWARE bits made it through. I should count myself lucky it glows red.

That is why I am a proponent of fibre to the desktop, you can see the bad red bits travel through the cable.

Surely this is just using an image as an analogy?

Like saying the malware is hiding in the code through obfuscation, and only by going through the code base with a fine tooth comb (symbolised by the magnifying glass) could you discover it.

Or not I don’t know.

That's precisely what it is. It's exactly what you want in a stock image. It straightforwardly, simply conveys a concept without really leaving much room for interpretation. This is an image that's intended to be used in some poor IT guys lousy malware powerpoint presentation to a non-IT department, and it's absolutely appropriate for that context.

But the smug "hurr-durr, that's not how binary works" delivers more dopamine.

Optimism is good... but i doubt that level of basic understanding exists for the creator, lol

I prefer optimism than superiority!

So this is how I check for malicious code on GitHub. It all seems so obvious now.
