Cocktails, the libationary art!
A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.
If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.
Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.
Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:
Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.
A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.
On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.
Currently, just whiskey with a cube or red wine because I'm lazy when uninspired.
Next week, however, is when the fun starts! I've got a few ideas in the works, I'll make posts for whatever I decide to go with.
This is how my cooking is, leading up to Thanksgiving. All of the cooking effort goes into the feast and leaves nothing, and all the refrigerator space used so can't even make a big pot of chili (the meal everyone will happily eat for a week straight). I have laid in sandwich supplies and grits and eggs.
It’s not a cocktail but I just finished my last Octoberfest. I usually buy the last bit I can find at the store as it’s my favorite but seasonal (clearly)
Four roses single barrel over ice
A dark and stormy does sound good though
Bumby rum on ice
I made my first Boulevardier 🤤
One of my favorites but I can sometimes find Campari syrupy so passing on some totally unrequested advice to suggest an aperol boulevardier. One of my sippin staples
Ooh I’d love to try that! I’ve been wanting to try aperol.
Italian red wine
Hot chocolate with black rum
A Sunday highball. Coconut rum and some Heirloom Pineapple Amaro, little bit of lime, in a soda I frankensteined out of the end of a bottle of ginger beer, end of a bottle of tepache and end of the the pineapple juice, have been adding to it all week as things run out. It's great and a little bit alcoholic itself at this point.
A bar near me has a cocktail I’ve been trying to imitate:
el gubanador pisco
passionfruit
lemon
vanilla syrup
Prosecco
It’s very light but sweet
I had my first negroni. I liked it. I'll now have to make them at home.
A whiskey sour variation.
2 oz Elijah Craig
3/4 oz Giffard Abricot
1/2 oz Amaretto
Almost 1 oz lemon supper juice
Almost 1 oz egg white
I made a quick supper that involved egg yolks (kimchi butter noodles) and so wanted a drink with egg white. Saw this on the Four Roses website, adjusted it a little for my known preferences (less sweet, more whiskey) I wouldn't say this is better than just using amaretto or apricot, the amaretto wants to dominate. But it is good. I think replacing the amaretto with an Amaro (like a paper plane variation) would be more balanced.
There was a grapefruit Jarritos left from Thanksgiving so made a delicious Paloma. 2 oz tequila reposada, 1 oz lime super juice, 4 oz of the soda.
