There are reports of spam coming from specific users on lemmy.blahaj.zone. I stumbled across some very unpleasant NSFL content on an unrelated post. I wouldn't reccomend it, but you could check [email protected]'s profile for an example if it hasn't been taken down yet.

It may be worth temporarily blocking that instance until they get a handle on the situation.

Someone seems to be doing a bunch of soam attacks like this. I saw one this morning, albeit much more tame, were they just posted random words with a soyjack. I blocked the soot account, but the i can still the comments in threads.

Been getting a lot of that type of spam from Hexbear ever since they were federated to my home instance a few months ago. Not sure if it's ALL coming out of them but the vast majority that I've seen has been.

That's more brigading than anything, which I guess still counts as spamming but is more coordinated and not by bots.
That's just hexbear.

I've learned not to kick hornets nests

lol that makes sense! Im so used to not knowing things about computer related topics that I made a wrong assumption, my bad

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

I work with computers full time and I also assumed it was a new acronym:). Thanks for being the brave one to ask.

I think it’s an anti lgbt attack trying to get the instance banned/defedarated. Clearly it’s working lol

User is banned on midwest.social and I will keep an eye on the reports.

Yep, soot just spammed one of my totally unrelated posts... Was shocked seeing these images in the comments.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

the bots are surfin the all/new queue

[–] [email protected] 10 points 8 months ago

It's good to see this posted (this post, not the spam)

The images they're using are deeply disturbing, I really didn't need to see those. I hope it gets solved quickly.

Thanks for the heads up. Community I run was hit, so ive banned user and removed material. This kinda stuff is disgusting (in all implied meanings)

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago

Yeah, reported one earlier. The sexual ones while gross wouldn't be that bad, gross but wouldn't really bother me (though I'd prefer to not have spam at all of course), but the child gore is definitely not what I wanna see while scrolling through memes.

I banned the instance for now but I'll have the main mod make a decision.

Just blocked the instance, I noticed it too. Poor children. Why would anyone do such a thing. Posting it in an argument of awareness is one thing, why would anyone just spam it.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 8 months ago (1 children)

To get a trans friendly instance blocked.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (2 children)

It'll be unblock once their mods deal with the account.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago

They need to deal with the methods these accounts use, not just individual accounts.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

How many people who individually block will go back to unblock?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

Probably none, which is why it's likely better for the instance to be proactive with doing it and work with the admins of the other instance in monitoring.

Does anyone have an update on this? the 196 community is usually my go to for memes
