I had a millennial moment the other day while rewatching The Fifth Element (yes I know it makes white heteronormativity heroic) when I got misty-eyed during the scene when they arrive on the space cruise ship. It was just such a warm welcome I guess. I also think cruises are evil (I went on one as a kid and it sucked). The Polynesian singing and dancing really got to me and made me want to reread Typee.

Edit: Gabby Pahinui’s music in The Descendants (also recently rewatched—who knew George Clooney was a native Hawaiian?) makes me cry.
