The slang term "cool" - 80 years and still going strong!

[–] [email protected] 16 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Is it one of the most enduring of these kinds of popular slangs?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The most enduring ones are probably considered formal English now.

I think so - can't think of a longer-lived one off the top of my head, not counting words that used to be considered slang but became official. "Cool" has always been too cool to not be considered slang!

Hot Grandpa

I wonder what is wrong with the other grandpa

Racist grandpa. When he talks about little yellow guys he's not referring to emojis

"You were in 'Nam?"

"Oh don't misunderstand, he wasn't in the war. He was just there last week on a business trip."

You’re in my phone as “Sad Grandpa”

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago

That's better than "touchy grandpa"

[–] [email protected] 19 points 8 months ago (1 children)

“Grandpa, It’s no longer cool to say ‘those little yellow guys’”

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago

I don't have my glasses on how he get them smile face on there like that? Kid next door show me once but it was on my old phone. Lost that one cause they said it got worms so stop buying them apple phones and got the smart types.

I love that they are ACTUALLY in their phone as “cool grandpa” lol

edit: i can’t type

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago

Well of course they are, they would be lying to their cool grandpa otherwise.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Well yeah, if cool grandpa asked “am I still in your phone as cool grandpa” and then they said “of course” and it wasn’t true, cool grandpa would teleport there and give them an ass whoopin’ for lying
