Wow...this sounds amazing. I really could have used something like this a year ago. I wish this were more of an option here in the states. Our system for in patient mental healthcare isn't exactly the most compassionate, from what I understand.

Ok. I'm wrong. I did "all" this morning and it's nothing but commies and cream pies. 😮‍💨

Weird, I look at posts by All fairly frequently, and I haven't run across any porn yet. It's mostly just AskLemmy or tech memes.

My favorite thing over there right now is r/videos, which only allows text descriptions of the video you were going to post. It's way more entertaining than it has any right to be.

Aww, he reminds me of my two Maine removed brother cats who I had to let go when they were 14. (One died from cancer right after their birthday, the other died from kidney disease not quite a year later. He never was quite the same without his brother.)

I am so sorry for your loss. He really is a beautiful cat. Magestic kitty bois are best kitty bois.

Ugh that reminds me of trying to talk to a Replika. "I have a gift for you!" "Great, what is it?" "(Hands you a box)" "...cool so what's inside the box?" "Wouldn't you like to know!" "Umm. Yes. Yes I would like to know what's in the box you just gave me." ...and so on and so forth until I rage-quit the app. 😆

I see a lot of people saying, "I can't believe it was only a 3% drop," and I'd like to offer some context as to why there's not enough data here to really tell a story, yet. It could go a few different ways.

The Reddit protests in June were a big deal, not just on Reddit or Lemmy, but to the media at-large. Traffic surely saw a huge influx of people wanting to look at the dumpster fire. I know that I myself used Reddit a lot leading up to the blackouts, since it was, in a sense, the last hurrah of Reddit as we knew it. The Spez AMA would have driven traffic. The NSFW sub protests would have driven traffic. All those news articles linked to Reddit directly, and they would have also driven traffic.

Even with all that, there's still a decrease in traffic. As others have said, July will be a better metric for the actual damage done, since the media has largely moved on and aren't driving as many visits, and 3PAs are toast.

These numbers would have been more representative if we could have had more than a quarter to look at. What was the QoQ trajectory before this? For all we know, this could have indicated business as usual, or it could have indicated something much bigger, depending on what the traffic metrics over the past 12-24 months could show us.

I also would have liked to see the history for unique sessions and unique visitors. If there was a huge influx of unique visitors compared to the past few months, but traffic was still decreased overall, then that would indicate it came from news clicks or bots.

Basically what I'm saying is that the data doesn't paint any kind of real picture right at this moment. That doesn't mean there was no impact though. Time will tell.

Unfortunately r/videos is only allowing text based descriptions of videos at this time, so you'll have to describe it in excruciating detail.

(Srsly tho the illegal upload of Bee Movie was a thrilling read.)

Whaaat I didn't even know this was a thing that could happen!!

This right here. As much as I’ve been enjoying Lemmy, it’s also been hard to go strictly-Lemmy, because the active users currently here aren’t quite as deliciously trashy as some of the subreddits. Like, yeah, I’m a developer, yeah I’m a nerd, but you know what? I like makeup tutorials and talking crap about the Teen Mom franchise. I could descend to deep diving in all my guilty pleasures on Reddit, and it’s crickets over here in comparison.

So…I’m trying. But it’ll only be as successful as the content we generate.

I love all of this, thank you so much for going into such detail! I've seen Johnny's seeds online, and was curious to order from them, but I didn't know how reliable they were. I'll go take a look at their stuff.

I've been getting soil, mulch and compost from a wholesale landscape supply place. Unfortunately I didn't haul off my sandy turf mix entirely, so now the grass has grown over and there's a lil hill on the side of my front lawn, oops. Way too hot to do jack squat about it right now, though!!

Edit: there was a submission, and it won! Thanks for sort of playing!

Fairly self-explanatory: We need a banner. I could steal one from the internet, but why do that when I can ~~shamelessly exploit the creativity of our subscribers~~ call upon our wonderful users to create something inspiring!

Post em in the comments, the most upvotes by...uh, Saturday, will win. Unless they're all awesome, and then I'll just rotate them out.

The weirder the better, plz. (Edit: Why? Because Mass Effect has a giant repository of funny moments and memeable events, and who doesn’t like to laugh?)

Edit: General guideline is that Lemmy defaults on desktop to 750px wide, and height is set to auto. I recommend doing 750x350ish, though going bigger is usually better to size down with. If it squishes weird, I can help fix in post. :)

Bonus round: what's the most absurd run you've done?

I tried to do renegade once, but I always end up going paragon by the end. I just can't be a dick to my crew, no matter how hard I try... 😢

"Shepard, I need you to read a bedtime story to the salarian councilor, but DO NOT tell Anderson."

You don't need to use your real info here in order to make a fun one, so do your worst!

There wasn’t a Lemmy community yet for the impending RedditExodus, so I figured “why not be the change you want to see in the world,” and here we are.

To kick things off: Tell me your favorite working theory for the upcoming game.
