ADHD + tinnitus here, and my tinnitus frequencies shift around too. I made white and brown noise clips in Audacity, then notched out the frequencies of my varying tinnitus. I play it on repeat and found it very helpful. Although the tinnitus always comes back, I can focus while listening.

Ooor... Hear me out... We never buy any EA or Ubi games until they get rid of their bullshit launchers and DRM. We'd see some changes in a hurry.

Regardless, I do appreciate all the community heads-up on massive discounts.

According to Consumer Reports, Topo Chico consistently tested the highest for PFAS among carbonated waters. But they also said almost all store-bought carbonated waters tested positive for PFAS.

We will see this in a federal court case before too long. In the US cash is legal tender for transactions, but plenty of businesses are moving to card-only. This is kinda legal gray area now, but when I still owned businesses it was quite illegal. I consulted my business attorney about going to card-only because of too many hold-up attempts. That was a complete non-starter.

Our social media and blog are severely neglected, in large part because of surveillance and chokepoint capitalism (see: Cory Doctorow). But this would probably be the best entry point into our socials: https://youtube.com/@svcascadia

then we popped the stern tube during an engine test (40 years worth of copper corrosion)...

0_0 HFS! Glad you're okay AND saved your necessarily minimal (because boat) belongings!

We live on an ocean-going sailboat. We make our own water and electricity. We have ~25 years of membranes, filters, and most parts. While we have the means to move around to cooler climes, going further northward means more severe storms and shorter working life of everything. So there's that consideration.

Having the escape hatch of the boat does a lot to ease the anxiety.

Other coping mechanisms:

  • fixing people's bicycles for free and evangelizing micro-mobility
  • monitoring and mapping marine health in maritime communities (kelp, fish counts, bottom conditions); yes this is "just" monitoring, but one measurement is worth 1000 opinions and hopefully helps to move the needle on getting everyone to pull together on environmental protections
  • community education on aeroponics and micro-hydroponics
  • community support on emergency preparedness

I'm sure I'm skipping over some of my other copium prescriptions, but those are the most salient.

TIL Commode Door is a rank. Is that role tasked with containing the dark humours?

Inb4: yes, I know it's "commodore."

Mashing the upvote for Shadow Tactics and Shadow Tactics:Aiko's Choice. And agreed, their controller scheme is so spot on. Aiko's Choice adds some deeply bittersweet context to the first game.

To signal boost @Lifecoach5000 love of the smashburger: J. Kenji Lopez-Alt goes into great culinary depth about burgers, including the Oklahoma smashie. This is the version I make for friends and loved ones: https://www.seriouseats.com/oklahoma-onion-burger-recipe

If you can source beef from grass-fed pastured steer (in contrast to CAFO beef), it makes such a huge difference. For example, we get beef from a small scale local rancher family that does all their own butchery. Anything more than salt and pepper on their beef starts to detract from the subtle complexities in the meat, complexities missing from grain-fed beef.
