In Olympic boxing both semifinalists will get a bronze instead of doing a bronze medal match. So 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze

Bad bit, invasive species are incredibly damaging to local ecosystems oftentimes causing mass die offs, if not extinctions, of local flora and fauna. See round gobies, Asian carp, and zebra mussels in the great lakes. More often than not invasive species are introduced accidentally into ecosystems by humans, they are not naturally migrating there.

We do see migrations of animals further north as the climate warms like armadillos and deer ticks in the Americas but these are not treated as invasive species. Similarly, species not native to an ecosystem but have become naturalized and are therefore not as damaging are not treated as invasive, like European starlings, dandelions, and pigeons in North America.

Now from a Vegan POV im-vegan I don't know what the best solution to invasive species would be. I have heard some vegans make the argument that invasive species control is better as it results in less animal death overall but it is difficult.

Do you have a source for the XY chromosomes? The only source I've seen that from is the IBA which as I mentioned isn't a trustworthy source necessarily. I've seen the president of the IBA claim that in a an interview with Russian media but they haven't put out anything past that.

Not saying XY chromosomes would change my opinion on the situation but it would be helpful to know

People are going after this boxer because she previously was disqualified from a tournament in 2023 for failing their "sex test" because she has high levels of testosterone. Notably I believe the international boxing association ran this tournament, an organization the IOC has cut ties with. I don't know if there is a confirmed reason for her high T levels but it could be due to many genetic factors

Not trans, just has a higher than average testorone level. Which could be due to a myriad of genetic factors

I'm so fucking tired of this discourse, besides the very obvious transphobia that the Brits love, at this point it's thinly veiled sexism that the only women competing should be visibly stereotypically feminine. Which you know, runs counter to the required muscle mass to compete in these sports. Then you've got the factor that the women targeted in these tirades are often times POC so it's checking even more bigotry boxes.

With their collapsing economy and lack of import in global politics, the purpose of TERF island appears to be acting as a bigotry factory exporting their shit takes to the rest of the world.

That's why the best solution is to sell alcohol to minors and hold it for them until they're old enough to own it the-plan

I believe it does! Similarly everytime Daniil Medvedev plays Wimbledon he's introduced as Mr Medvedev (bear)

Either Dmitry Medvedev or Daniil Medvedev (tennis player) have to change their name because this isn't the first time I've thought a tennis player was calling for war

They're really trying to pull the US into this by escalating and provoking a serious response

Wingspan! Fun engine builder that is simple enough to introduce new people to it at a game night but can get more complex and deep with expansions. Also if you're a bird nerd it's a great way to memorize names (and calls/songs if you play the pc version)

Why are you all laughing? This man has cured hundreds of people from their various health issues using only advice

So the Canadian government passed a law in June that would require Meta and Google to pay news organizations for news content that is featured on their websites. Essentially acting as a kind of "link tax" for tech companies, justified by the use of content from these news organizations that appears on Facebook, Instagram, and Google (thumbnails, bylines, etc). In response Meta has blocked all Canadian news from appearing on their websites along with non-news websites from Canada like The Beaverton and Walking Eagle News (The Canadian and Indigenous versions of the Onion). You can read more here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_News_Act

https://www.parl.ca/legisinfo/en/bill/44-1/c-18

So I can see potential pros and cons of this legislation.

Pros:

I hate Google and Meta and this will make them lose money which I'm always a fan of.

This could help news organizations that have more leftist or more Indigenous focused reporting fund their work, considering those organizations don't have much funding to begin with in Canada.

The current blocking of news on Meta could help move people away from getting their news on there from sites like The Rebel

It will help ensure the survival of Canadian based news and help stave off even more American corporate and cultural hegemony over the country

Cons:

The majority of the money from this program will go towards the Postmedia owned news networks and further entrench their neoliberal worldview

What do you think about the bill?

I'm treating this like adult Pokemon and my friends aren't getting my excitement when I find a new bird.

Also I've been checking in on some juvenile Bald Eagles near me here's a picture I could get of one:
