It's possible that I'm reading it differently, but I see the reasons being portrayed not as invalid in and of themselves, but rather as being weak attempts at excusing their own actual motivations for playing as girls and women.

I also didn't play as female characters because of their clothing options or their appearance being more aesthetically appealing. It was in fact because I wanted to be perceived and acknowledged as a girl and that was the closest it was permissible for me to get. I definitely expressed excuses at times for it as well. I think this is actually a very common experience for transfeminine people. Not universal, nor does it mean those things have any innate value.

But okay, is it just the framing that's the issue here? Would the meme be fine if it depicted an internal dialogue by the creator? Is it purely an issue because of the existence of the friend character?

I'm assuming this to be the case based on what the sidebar shows as the "egg prime directive". Which in and of itself is a valid issue with the content. I think it's a pretty uncharitable interpretation, but yeah I can see how it normalizes that.

Sorry, I read the sidebar (egg prime directive) and now see how this post normalizes other people questioning someone's identity.

Why? Because they both happened in China?

The delivery driver was in desperation because they were going to lose money by being held up by the security guard. They weren't protesting or demonstrating, just trying to do their job and literally could not afford to wait around. Probably because they are paid a pittance and are paid by the delivery instead of by hour worked. This is also a problem in North America and Europe. Delivery drivers are classified as independent contractors to avoid being given hourly wages and benefits. This incident was a symptom of poor regulation of the delivery industry.

I'm not sure how any of that relates to tank man aside from the fact that both incidents took place somewhere in China. I'm not saying critiquing the Chinese government isn't worthwhile, but it comes off entirely fangless when you just throw out tank man in a completely unrelated situation. If our goal is better rights and living conditions for workers in China (and everywhere else), the least we can do is actually argue for those things. Criticizing the Chinese state for censoring information on the Tiannamen Square Protests has its place. Doing so here just detracts from the actual subject of the post.

Heaven forbid she lose money. Literally the only thing that could make her ~~stop~~ briefly pause harassing people on the internet.

Can definitely say the same for me. I have some old pictures from when I was a teenager I used to dislike. But I have them on display in my home now. It's honestly nice to see them and see how far I've come and who I once was. Seeing that person has become easier.

Is that the standard now? Comparison? He is still unbelievably evil even by comparison to other evil people.

Him and the dynasty he created were one of the most destructive forces in human history and resulted in the horrific deaths of millions of people. By many metrics, they practiced genocide and ethnic cleansing on conquered populations. They destroyed the books of captured people's and places of worship. They're also well known for having destroyed farmland and aqueducts to starve out massive numbers of people. They were butchers. Mass murderers on a skill the world had never seen at that time. He erased entire civilizations from history, ones that we still barely know anything about.

I didn't think I wanted it before I started transition. It took a few months for it to fully sink it that it was a thing I could do and that it would make me happier. I also maybe felt a bit like I didn't deserve it. I wasn't able to get it for a long time due to medical gatekeeping, but I'm very happy I was eventually able to get it nonetheless.
