I got 7/10, but was guessing most.

Shame my exams never worked out that well...

Great opportunity to slide in another ex-Murdoch plant to further sabotage the ABC from the inside.

Jobs will continue to be cut until science gives us the answers we want!

Anything original is regarded as sacrilege.

Anything referencing the past is boring and repetitive.

For mine, I found this closer to the first Alien movies, and enjoyed it as a break from feeling like the story had to take centre stage. Alien is all about the vibes, creeps and feels. That's what I enjoyed about this one.

The sound/score was great, though I found some of the score a little delayed and over the top in emphasizing when something had happened "DUM-DUM-DUUUUMMMMMM"

I wasn't much of the fan of the fast growing baby creature that some have referred to as baby Zuckerberg. Some of that reminded me of Species. Mind you, I'd watch Alien v Species. Or Alien v Thing. Or any combination v Predator.

The callbacks are starting to come across to me as lazy writing. Just repeating stuff from previous movies that ends up filling in time. Good for those that haven't seen any of the previous movies I guess. I'm OK watching what's basically a repeat movie once, but don't do it again.

Seems obvious to me that now we've had Alien: Romulus the next is the Alien: Remus prequel.

Enjoyable return to original films:7/10

I had a funny comment to make, but this is a serious issue and it's not appropriate right meow.

What I wonder is if this could end up turning generations of Australians against US & UK alliances in the future.

They are forced by the state government to put aside money for future rehabilitation. Piles of money set aside frequently have a way of disappearing....

Something else to point out is that “huge methane plume” is actually methane that is always there. It’s just that normally there is a huge amount of forced ventilation into (and subsequently out of) underground mines and while that is working this methane plume is diluted to much lower levels.

Oh, my bad. I thought that the methane was kinda trapped underground with the coal and was released by mining/boring.

I've got a random username if the stupid website/app allows it. Most don't. It has to be your email address.

And a minimum random 20 char password for each website/app. Again if the stupid website/app allows it.

Secure your (I don't mean you personally) fucking website/app and credentials storage and stop making your weaknesses my problem.

Most places, and all of my stupid financial websites/apps, only have phone/SMS as the second factor. And yet there are plenty of horror stories about people 'losing' their phone numbers.

Oh wait. There is one financial site that has developed its own authenticator app. I really expect that to go about as well as storing passwords in cleartext.

Then there's all the shit websites/apps that I don't give a fuck about that now insist on having 2FA set up. They're not interested in the security, it's just to get your email and phone number to onsell your data to whoever.

It's fucking security theater.

I'm certifiably insane, have a doctorate in frustration, and many studies published of "Oh, fuck, what is this? I don't have time for this now, I have shit to get done".

Good luck.

So when they finally close all the coal mines,

OK

and seal all the shafts and fill in all the pits, they’re also going to have to

Hmmm. Will they really? That's a cost with no revenue. I'd go bankrupt if I were a company.

go and cap the thousands upon thousands of boreholes because they’re a direct line to the remaining seams below, and they’ll basically vent forever.

I gas that seems more likely....

On Four Corners tonight (check your local guides):

Channel Seven bills itself as a family network, but a Four Corners investigation finds it to be a "second chance club" for senior men, described as a "degrading, soul-crushing" workplace.

Expect the attacks on the ABC to intensify .....

Sorry if this has been asked/answered previously, but it just struck me that I hadn't really noticed any impacts of CloudStrike on aussie.zone.

Was wondering if it was a non-event, or maybe there are some war stories with heroes deserving medals!

Twins in a pram rolled onto the track at Carlton.

Terrible.

I use old.reddit.com, and had trouble logging in from there today. "Too many redirects". I also use the Redirect to old.reddit.com extension. When I disabled that, the login link it now takes you to is https://www.reddit.com/login/. That, of course, takes you to www.reddit.com.

The old 'popup' login box has been removed. I also noticed that the in sub logins where they used to have username/password entry boxes have been removed.

More reddit enshitification to try and make us use their horrible UI.

He's passed EVERY test. He's more Aussie than anyone I know!

Ok I have a confession to make. I often don't put tomato sauce on things that are ~~expected~~ required by Aussies to have tomato sauce. It's a shameful thing, and I don't want to talk about that.

But, sometimes I must have tomato sauce. The bottle is almost empty, and after upgrading my BBQ sauce and Mayo, surely there is a great bang for the buck tomato sauce.

Choice rated Community Co A Squeeze of Tomato Sauce, available from IGA, as number 1 in 2019 from a list of over 20 tomato sauces/ketchups.

Anyone tried this and can give me a recommendation and reasons on why I should try something else over this?

Ima have to apologise in advance for being a questioning beotch that expects a reference to a scientific study for every statement...after quoting Choice 🤣

Hope you're enjoying yourself, and have a great 2024!

Hope everyone has an exciting or relaxing Christmas. Whichever one they wished for!

And be safe in your travels.

Great little piece that hits a surprising range of emotions

So, it appears the first SMR project in the US was scrapped due to rising costs.

An Aussie SMR would take 10-15 years before even being online and we'd be the guinea pigs.

Perhaps it's time to pivot to technology already available and that can be implemented in the short term?
