I work in energy r&d, and have for several jobs over the years now.

My sadness is transmuted into passion for solving these issues from the ground up. Top brass is interested in "stock options" and blah blah blah, I'm just focused on solving technical problems to make efficient, powerful energy production that isn't hard on the earth.

The money won't matter if there's nowhere to live. My efforts may not be enough, ultimately, but I'll die knowing I tried to help solve the problems we've caused.

It didn't previously?? I've had it running natively on my laptop for like a year at this point, no proton apps installed

I forget where I'd read about it, some enterprising individual disassembled, then reassembled the boot off the vehicle, several times. Might be an urban legend though.

Go team earth! Right?

For the record, I (an engineer) test my own designs (both installation and performance) and sometimes fab them myself to identify pain points, something I encourage for all engineers.

Not as clever as a machinist when it comes to techniques for manufacturing, but I generally try to avoid the need for such techniques if I can. But sometimes it's necessary.

I was an electrician to pay for school in Manhattan, it was fucking awesome meeting all these dudes and ladies from all walks of life, truly a melting pot. I worked under a quality-centric Rasta, who answered to a way-overworked foreman from long island, we would all be fighting some days, laughing together some days and always getting shit done.

I don't miss how much my fucking feet or shoulders hurt after being on ladders all day, 50 stories up where the wind fuckin' gallops (till windows thankfully get installed), but I got so many stories and good/bad times out of the job.

I miss NYC, tell you the truth.

Redwood materials is a big player in this space. Don't forget, the larger the cells, the easier they are to recycle. Tiny cellphone packs are hard to stretch out and scrape, comparatively.

That's how I feel about it as well. Better to upgrade the safe than to add warning posters.

I kind of expect it to be required, SCADA has had plenty of ancestry. But you'd expect the NSA to have been consulted on how to prevent interaction with the general public..

I know, right? Like how the hell do you get worried from such a silly movie.. Unless he knew the us military defense systems were in fact that weak, against people and their telephones.

Nah, Reagan was just a wuss.

Assholes with power never cease in their quest for yet more.

I don't get the amnesty bit, she was literally in exile and they reached out to her via mail bomb. Fuckheads, all of 'em.

Anyone else hear these jets? They're zipping, and how.

E: Blue Angels doing some practice.

Anyone have input here?

I'm trying to decide which I like, yammie noob had a cool vid comparing the two with the xsr seemingly on top, but spec-wise, the z900 should be wild. I'm aware there are tune and exhaust kits to wake the undertuned z900 up.

I like spirited riding, but mostly on straights as I roar off to a campsite in the mountains. What do you folks think?

Google Pay alternative?

Hey there, I'm looking for an alternative to Google pay that'll allow me to use NFC payments etc. Thoughts?

I don't have a Google account, nor am I interested in opening one.

E: Just to clarify, the payment part would be convenient, more annoying is how I don't get to use a single place for my subway/gym/ticketmaster passes.

What a way to start the day. Had a spare, so it added a few minutes to my morning. Carefully cleaned the dust from around the plug, swapped, started and rode.

NBD, but what the fuck?

Exploring the city, it feels both dark and somehow inviting. New experience for sure.

Wish I could figure out how to attach multiple photos in voyager.

Gluten free? (lemmy.world)
submitted 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hey everyone, does anyone know how to make gluten free bread that might be as soft and fluffy as that previously posted Japanese milk bread appears to be?

So, after watching "Plagues and pleasures on the Salton sea" (available on YouTube for free), I decided to look into what was happening to it.

Looks like we actually may help with restoration. But what does that mean, where are we getting the water for it? Will that money actually get to us?

Love this guy.
