I was going to make a comment about the 1998 battlezone game, but I looked it up and it's actually soviet moonbases, which makes more sense, really.

It wasn't enormous, but it was my first time on shrooms after trying several other psychedelics. I don't remember the exact dosage, I think I had ground it up and put it in some small capsules to make measuring doses easier but I don't think I ever tried the rest since the first wasn't very pleasant. But like I said, people react differently, brain chemistry is complex.

Anyway, I far preferred the feel of LSD. But I haven't taken either in many years at this point, I don't have enough free time for it, lol. My main problem with all of them is the time investment.

I had a similar experience. Acid was chill. Felt great, music was wonderful. Snapped me out of my depression enough to make an appointment with my psychiatrist and get back on treatment. Downside was how long it lasts, mostly after you've come down and are unable to sleep for ages.

Shrooms, on the other hand... I remember rolling on the floor, chewing on my desk, and completely forgetting who I was - but I could sort of remember a friend of mine who had amnesia from a bad motor accident, so I reasoned that I must be them. Plus I felt nauseous the whole time. Maybe a lower dosage would have been better but it's not like I was trying to take enough to see god or anything. People react differently to everything, after all.

Wasn't traumatic or anything, but wasn't helpful either. It was an interesting experience to have but I would not want to repeat it.

Play some co-op games with a friend. Maybe some helldivers 2 and darktide! Been a while and a new update is out for that. Good to give it a try before dawntrail consumes my every waking moment.

It's bloody difficult.

I used to mod on /r/videos years and years back. We had this one guy who was not very active as a mod in the day to day stuff, but was respected because he'd basically disappear for a few months and then reappear with a huge post in our modding sub basically going "so these are all spammers/malicious actors, here's their profiles, the accounts were created in these waves, here's where they've copied existing posts / the identical generic comments and things they use to get around our posting requirements, the targets they've been promoting, etc". Just huge pages of thoroughly researched proof.

This was well before we had huge awareness of situations like Russia manipulating social media - it was usually those viral video places that buy up rights to videos and handle licensing and promotion. It's why for a long time any licensed videos from places like viralhog etc were outright banned - they were constantly trying to manipulate reddit postings in bad faith, and even trying to socially engineer the mod team in modmail, so any videos that mentioned a licensing deal in the description were automatically banned from posting.

If we didn't have that one guy spotting the patterns, most of it would have gotten by easily. Unfortunately he did eventually disappear for good. No clue what happened to him, hope he just cut out social media or something. But with the spamming and astroturfing stuff... Even after fighting it for years I can't tell you what to do to counter it besides "have more of that guy".

When it comes to 3D games, if they tried for realism, they can't, IMO. Stylized 3D can look pretty good even when fairly old, but old 3D that tried for realism just looks dated. Even a lot of 3D games now that try for a more realistic style (outside of the huge AAA studios) look kinda bad to me, but I'm very sensitive to the uncanny valley effect. I mean, even before they updated the models and world, WoW still looked pretty decent long after release.

Yeah, I just set up a catch-all and use individual emails for everything, like the gmail + trick but without sites rejecting + characters occasionally.

Of course, I have several domains and one is a .rodeo that some older sites refuse to believe is a TLD so there's that problem...

I highly recommend Dankmus on YouTube for anyone. You can listen on other platforms but they also have accompanying videos.

I mean, I go on twitter daily, but only to follow artists, and, like... game devs for short form news updates.

Not whatever... most people apparently use it for.

I also use userscripts that prevent the 'for you' tab from ever showing up or being selected.
