And replace him with who?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 5 hours ago

I don't think there's much of a difference between the two with the flip flopping and rhetoric that has been rampant since 2016

This article from 2022 sums it up nicely

I can dig up more direct quotes if you like, but suffice to say the GOP are all in on the Trump brand. I don't think the difference is the nuanced argument you would like it to be. Lots of high ranking Nazis in the post war era talked about how much they hated Hitler. Fascism is a self serving ideology, they love you until they have no use for you, look at how Ben Shapiro is currently floundering for a modern example.

The GOP absolutely loves Trump. They say they don't like him but often parrot and amplify his talking points.

First past the post got us in this mess and it sure as shit ain't gonna get us out of it. I'll take a straw poll over whwt our current system is.

Ranked Choice voting allows for the kind of direct democracitc action as we just saw in France and what they finally got around to doing in the UK with the most recent elections.

However, it's against the best interest of the current politicians in power.

How do we get Ranked Choice on ballot when the DNC won't even use it in their primaries?

Assuming that is true; what's your proposal to fix this now?

I've been known to shitpost here and there, look at my comment history for proof of that. However, I always atleast try to start from a position of good faith and extend that assumption to whoever I'm disagreeing/discussing/arguing with here on Lemmy. Even routine shitposters and what some consider trolls.

We're all humans out here. I try not to amplify divisive politics.

These are bold claims, I've edited my comment above with supporting articles. Do you have any supporting evidence for your claims?

There is a spectrum of political discussion that is more nuanced than that.

I too oppose the sale of arms to and have always opposed the apartheid state that Israel has built. If there's any chance of replacing Biden and not ending up with Trump that is what I want.

I am however 100% certain that Trump will encourage an escalation and wholesale destruction of the Palestinian state and advocate for the rounding up of the Palestinian diaspora. Trump would empower Bibi to escalate to taking over Libya and Trump has openly advocated for war with Iran. Iran, one of the few countries rendering aid to Hamas right now.

Biden is misguided and naive that he thinks Bibi will not exterminate the Palestinians. Trump wants nothing more than to pave Palestine into an Amusement park. Don't get this shit twisted.

Depends on the mass of the projectile and the size and material of the rings of the mail.

Drop in the bucket, the issue is with zoning and how banks are apportioning debt and packaging home loans.

If we want home ownership to be available to the common person, and are unwilling to set a realistic national wage, we should just allow the Fed to issue home loans again and get rid of the middlemen all together.

This isn't about immediately filtered content, like the disgusting DuffMan George Floyd meme, or Holocaust denial. That's pretty well kept in check by mod tools. I'm also not talking about cogent or even pointed political discussion.

I'm not even talking about necessarily in this community directly, however in a lot of other spaces I've noticed a lot of accounts using divisive language and terms like "The ineffectual left" "single issue voters" "ignorant right wing morons". Lots of straw man arguments, lots of willful ignorance.

I'm not a centrist, I'm very very very far left however I know well enough not to patently dismiss the talking points of others, outside of course calls to genocide. I know what dog whistles sound like, and I'm hearing a lot of them lately.

Most egregiously I'm seeing very long form post replies that read very much like what is generated from LLMs.

So I guess my question is, how're we all fairing with what might be the largest Turing test ever?
