as a young person who hates cigarettes and recently went to las vegas for the first time, it was wild walking around the casinos thinking "this is what everywhere used to smell like, its incredibly disgusting!" I'm glad we managed to stop smoking indoors, probably one of the greatest advances of society.

alvr is the way to go on linux, but it sadly has a long way to go before its as good as vr on windows. to be fair I play a lot of simulators in vr, which don't have the same support as something like skyrim vr, but they have a small amount of visual issues with stuff like timewarp not seeming to work completely properly. for the time being though, alvr, steamvr, and a distro like bazzite or nobara (probably more, these are the main ones ive used) are the way to go. alvr's discord is a good place to go if youre having any issues!

you can! (at least on googles android tv, not sure about amazon's bastardized version) I use an app called button remaster, available from the play store, to switch my chromecasts youtube button to smart tube and netflix button to stremio

usually I get a lot of my info from youtube channels I like to watch; just seeing what they're up to and if it'll be relevant to me or just entertainment. some channels I enjoy are hardware haven, raid owl, techno tim, and christian lempa. I'm not super knowledgeable and also pretty new to self hosting but these guys have helped me a lot so I figure I pass em on and hope you gain from their knowledge as well!

good point, but I worry about a loop of the media giving attention, making people more aware that this party exists, ignorant people give them more support, repeat. seems like a similar strategy happened in the us with our media giving trump endless headlines.

it truly is a sad thing to view. I'm 100% sure if conservatives weren't reaping the benefits of the left without giving anything in return in my union we'd be so much better off wage and benefits wise. I cannot comprehend how union members can support trump, who supports project 2025 and therefore the stripping of our rights we've fought for for over 100 years to get to the place they're at now.

I'm pretty new to self hosting, so apoligies in advance if what i wanna do sounds stupid. I've had an old lenovo desktop set up with truenas for about a month now, and I was wondering if it was possible to have an smb share and a filebrowser instance use the same directory. I tried to set it up like this when deploying filebrowser but when I set the directory to the smb share, truenas gave me an error saying that the path is being used as an smb share. the reason why I wanna do this is for simple access in my desktops file explorer, while also being able to access the same files from my phone, or over the internet. thanks in advance for taking time out of your day to give me a hand.
