Well, I use Steam a ton and have a Steam Deck. But, Steam dev effort to income ratio is probably ridiculously skewed. The company pretty much prints money. In that way, Steam is a cash grab.

I do question if Steam hadn’t been such a success if Valve might have released HL3 by now.

It has Google vibes to it. Google makes so much money in ad revenue that a lot of their other products just get cancelled.

I do like Valve overall though and am a fan. I’m a fan that wants to know the ending of HL3.

I’m not complaining, just noting that it was very lucrative. Folks are really overreacting with the downvotes. Chill people.

Is assassin’s creed any good? Once a game becomes a franchise with a bajillion releases I just tune it out. Feel the same way about marvel movies. Maybe they’re good, maybe they’re bad, but I’m more annoyed that they’re trying to shove it down my throat, so I tune out.

I have a little respect for him because he refused to give in to Trump’s demands to mess with the certification process on January 6th.

I disagree with him on most everything, but he is a principled person. More than you can say for Trump.

It’ll be the first time in his life he is not the boss. That’ll likely lead to a problem.

Temu is like NAFTA for American “business” people.

You cut out the factory worker first, then cut out the American importer.

Someone ought to put this future serial killer out before he starts his career on humans.

Once I interned in Washington DC.. you start to understand the mindset there. Everyone all over the US blames DC for the dysfunction in our government. However, the opposite is true, you people sent these dysfunctional people to DC, so really it’s your fault.

Same thinking here. Most government bureaucrats are well-educated caring individuals who are really passionate about their subject area. Expecting them to tolerate a toxic workplace because the American people can’t choose competent leaders is unfair.

I’m between a medium and a large. More often then not though, I need the shoulder width and arm length of a large, but the cut in the torso of a medium. Clothing manufacturers assume Americans scale horizontally as they scale vertically. This maybe true given our obesity crisis.

Love the current icons, but would also always love to see some more!

It's my first time building a computer. I also haven't really done much PC gaming in the past 15 years, except on my Steam Deck. Actually, it is the Steam Deck that has convinced me to invest in a desktop PC with some more power. I like the Linux experience on Steam Deck and would like to stick with that if possible. I haven't used Windows in 15 years either, as I tend to use Mac OS and a bit of Linux for personal and work. Windows seems to just get worse and worse and I'd like to avoid it if possible.

In any case, I went with an AMD CPU because I've heard about Intel's recent corrosion issues. And, chose an NVidia GPU since I'd like to take advantage of ray tracing. I've heard the driver support can be a bit mixed on Linux, but I'm open to trying to make it work unless folks think it really is terrible. Any feedback is helpful.

I’m always surprised by the quality of comments on Lemmy and the analysis provided, often by experts in their field. It gives a sense that the average Lemmy user is a lot smarter than the average member of the public.

Also, when it comes to politics, I think the average Lemmy user is pretty perceptive of what real power dynamics are at play and what interests society should be looking to promote.

It's been a pleasure to be on this platform with you all. Where do you all come from? And why is it so hard to find people like you in the real world?

There can be a lot of junk on Temu admittedly, but it’s kind of fun to find a few deals.

Found a pair of Leatherman Raptor shears ($99 USD) for $12

Also found a Benchmade Follow Up Fixed Blade ($120 USD) for $16

Bought a drone for $15. It’s not high quality, but it’s a drone, for $15. Fun to mess around and learn with.

Anyone else find some deals? Or, got another suggestion besides Temu?

My favorite part is the way my grooming kit and pen fit into my minimalist wallet. Always handy to have a nail clipper, comb, and pen in your back pocket taking up as little space as few credit cards.
