Is there precedent for suing users for cheating/griefing in your game. It sounds like it could set one if it's a first.

I think there is some value to being grateful if you're in a reasonably good place. Personally, it helps me anchor myself and my emotions better as someone who constantly worries about something.

The same reasoning behind not comparing yourself to others who have it way better than you still applies though. There will always be those who are much better off and those that are much worse off so it's important not get carried away or feel like your problems are not worth worrying or complaining about.

But I also know that whenever it's brought up by other people it's usually to say that your problems don't matter which is why I'm saying it should be something personal. Mostly for basic things like being in good health, having access to food and shelter and not living in a warzone.

Deal is dead. Placed orders may or may not be cancelled based on what people said in the Reddit thread.

According to the study, photosynthesis in tropical trees begins to fail at about 46.7 degrees C (116 degrees F)

In a typical year, only around 0.01 percent of the leaves in the upper canopies surpass the temperature at which photosynthesis starts to fail. The global temperature increase that is associated with these changes is around 4 degree Celsius, which is currently in line with worst-case scenario projections.

Generally most wildfires are accidently caused by people but being able to track down and arrest them is a little unusual. It doesn't sound like something that would be reasonable to track accurately.

I think diminishing returns make 240Hz not worth it for the average competitive player. There are 2 exceptions:

  1. You're very competitive

  2. You've got the money to spend

Here's one way to look at it 60Hz is 1 refresh every 17 milliseconds. At 165Hz it's every 6ms and at 240Hz it's every 4ms. So from that perspective whatever premium you're paying is to have the opponent's head appear on the screen 2ms faster (also impacted by other hardware induced delays). For context, the average person's response time to visual stimulus is about 250ms.

It's definitely nice to have and I haven't gone above 165Hz myself as a disclaimer but you will need to consistently hit 240 FPS in games to make use of the extra refresh rate and that requires a beefy CPU and/or GPU depending on the game. Especially if you want your 1% lows (FPS dips) to stay above 240 as well.

To my eyes, the main benefit of a higher refresh rate for fast paced games is the smoothness of motion (at least CSGO which is what I play). If I can track an enemy's head then I'm good and I don't think you need 240Hz for that.

An increasingly aging population. Less money from taxation to fund services, decreasing standards of living, more people dependent on a decreasing number of income earners, being in a nursing home without anyone available to care for you etc

A death spiral unless we can somehow manage to grow economically to compensate but even then the social outcomes arent great either.
