Uh, I hire a lot of remote people, and have been remote for a long time. That is absolutely not fucking normal. I'm not going to say racism/poor/or anything, but I will say asshole behavior and huge red flag.

Hooray! An unpopular opinion!

Yes, you're right. But your opinion is more or less what The Good Place (fantastic show) was saying. It is impossible to truly be a good person in society. The only way you can do that is by completely leaving society and living on your own. Having hard rules of "You're either doing good or not" means everyone is bad, as you're saying yourself.

There's a middleground. It is not "You are good or bad". Eating less meat helps the planet, reduces greenhouse gasses, and reduces wasted land. It's also horrible for the animals and knowingly exploitive. Those are facts. Now, what you say is true too, but what, should they just not eat at all? I know many vegans do try to grow their own food and do try to obtain everything as ethically as possible.

But it's impossible to live in society and not at least moderately hurt other people/animals/the planet. The clothes we wear, the food we eat, how we get around, our hobbies, these computers we're on, they're all built on exploitive labor. You have to pick your battles though, and you have to try.

Now, you can absolutely educate them, absolutely go for it, let them know. But I wouldn't start with calling people who are trying to make a difference "sociopaths".

For those who haven't seen it, John Oliver has a good bit on subway. https://youtu.be/jDdYFhzVCDM?si=AMkHeXR5yIpZCu3l

So not defending them, but the franchise owners were royally fucked by subway corporate. Lead on with a cheap buy in, be your own boss, make money, etc. subway takes advantage of it's franchises more than almost anyone else around. Things like requiring all food comes from corporate, no changes, even allowing rivaling franchises to open up next to you.

John Oliver does a good bit on it https://youtu.be/jDdYFhzVCDM?si=AMkHeXR5yIpZCu3l

We have drag queens reading to kids telling them to be who they want to be and never feel ashamed. PROPAGANDA!

Growing up in the Midwest of America I took AC for granted. Pretty much every home and shop had AC, and if it didn't there were at least window units. Moving to the Pacific Northwest with a more mild climate almost no one had AC, and it's just normal not to have it.

Until the heatwave a few years ago that melted power lines I didn't care, but I realized it was a safety issue and had a heat pump installed. That's when I realized it's a luxury. Almost $10,000 to get it integrated with my existing HVAC.

It's wild, it's definitely a luxury that most people just assume is normal. You have to go somewhere that doesn't have it to truly appreciate what it does and how much it costs.

This one is painfully accurate. And doubled if they cheated on their ex. It's not romantic, you're not in a movie. They're a shitty person who cheated on their partner. They will do it to you.

I like to measure costs in dollars per hour, similar to this. So what if that hobby item is 400 dollars. How many hundreds of hours will you get enjoying it? So like, a dollar an hour.

A movie you don't care about seeing? 20 dollars for 2 hours. Maybe hold off.

Oh my GOD yes. The pain now is a FRACTION of what it'll be the longer you put it off! And trust me, at some point you will be forced to go if you don't choose to go yourself. Just go. They won't judge you for starting now.

Curious to see how many people here are using Wyoming Satellites, and if so, what are you doing to build/house them?

I have a sample one working on an old pi and a computer speaker hooked up, with my primary Blue mic. Obviously this isn't long term, and I'm looking at building a few of these.

So, what do you use? Raspberry pi? Some sort of hat on it? What sort of casing do you use? Any really cool implementations? I'll take all ideas and suggestions!

(But it's also heavily on sale right now, for $15 - https://store.steampowered.com/app/526870/Satisfactory/)

Personally, I don't mind at all. For one I bought it at $30, but also I have 2,000 hours logged. Per hour that's a cost of $0.02 per hour (at the new price) if I had bought it at $40. I'm all for calling out studios like ubisoft for being greedy, but coffee stain has done a very fair job with Satisfactory IMO, and they very well deserve $10 more for the game.

That being said, go pick it up now for $15

Siddy Holloway is doing a special I'd really like to watch, but it's only on BBC2 from what I see. Will it be on a streaming service or anything?

Didn't like it at first, but won't lie it got stuck in my head and it's growing on me

After a brief haitus I'm back in the factory! Currently working on our first big nuclear power plant again, and the resources needed for it. Today will probably be building a new quickwire factory to help that, and finishing automating turbomotors.

Shameless self promotion, you can watch (and subscribe on the fediverse) here: Owncast Link
