I don't care if the guy is a billionaire or not

Good news. He wasn't a billionaire. In fact, he wasn't even close.

Combined, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are worth 150,000x more than this guy.

I love how all the people stanning for this guy are doing tons of work to help identify him with shit like this. Keep it up, lol.

Why? No one is inciting violence, commissioning violence, or even inciting hatred.

Just grabbing one at random: https://lemmy.world/comment/13806719

You don't have to look far to find more.

You really don't understand how common this kind of behavior is in men.

He wasn't a billionaire. I know it's easy to just pretend that every CEO is Elon Musk, but in billions he was worth $0.04B. Elon Musk is on track to be worth 100,000x that.

If you think he was an Oligarch, you're already doomed, because you don't know who your real enemies are.

Remember how the right kept panicking their base for easy political points until extremist thought divorced from reality took over their platform and became the new norm?

Well, it's happening to the left now. With a second Trump term on the horizon, income inequality at an all time high, and the rich and powerful preparing for the most egregious political and economic power grab of all time, people are ready to accept anything that even remotely sounds like justice.

One murdered CEO changes nothing. Nothing will change. No other CEOs will be touched. But the Overton Window does now appear to include murdering people in cold blood over politics and economics on both sides of the aisle now, so honestly, get prepared for a nasty civil war in the next few years.

The public reaction to this murder is disturbing and a very bad omen of what's to come, no matter how easy it is to hate this guy.

From the ToS:

The website and the agreement will be governed by and construed per the laws of the following countries and/or states:

  • The Netherlands
  • Republic of Finland
  • Federal Republic of Germany

So yeah, they'd be fucked, especially in Germany.

I am seeing a huge increase in posts and comments that incite violence, make threats of violence against specific people, or that celebrate real-world instances of violence and murder. There are hundreds of comments on this instance posted over the past day that brazenly violate rule #1 "We do not tolerate threats of and calls for violence in any form against any living creature".

Many offending comments have been dealt with by mods, but some mods are seemingly allowing this violent rhetoric in their respective sub-communities. There are many active threads about the UHC CEO right now on lemmy.world that are filled with violent rule-breaking comments, and very little visible moderation.

Given that the mods are either unable or unwilling to enforce this most fundamental content rule, when can we expect the admins to get involved and start handing out bans to the users that have been celebrating murder and inciting more violence? It's pretty out of control right now, and I'm betting that the admins could find themselves in hot water with the authorities if this continues to go unchecked.

Jesus Christ, performing a legal ceremony isn't "art", it's the legal duty of the public servants that swore to do the job. It sounds to me like you're saying that public servants should be allowed to refuse to perform a courthouse marriage ceremony if they disagree with interracial marriages. If that is indeed what you are saying, then you are endorsing racial discrimination against citizens by the government. I can only assume you are of a demographic that would be unlikely to be discriminated against since you seem to be blasé about discrimination against others.

Tl;Dr: first you outed yourself as a homophobe, and now a racist too.

The issue I see here is that this isn't the first domino that triggers a people's revolution. If this inspires more violence against the rich, the system is designed to protect those people. It won't buckle under that pressure, it will retaliate a thousandfold. With Trump taking office next month, don't expect the conditions for a revolution to materialize. Expect to be crushed by the police and military for even speaking out.
