A chinese-australian journalist who was jailed for espionage claims that what tourists see are basically movie sets. China is tricking westerners into believing that they are developed and advanced by erecting whole developed and advanced megacities like Beijing and Shanghai and having westerners visit them.
wouldn't it be simpler, easier, and less expensive to just do socialism
I feel like covid really showcased how extremely difficult it is to control masses of people. Like, in The Netherlands, with a population of 17 million which is smaller than the city of Beijing, the government lost all control. We had riots, people ignoring the rules, outbreak after outbreak. And The Netherlands wasn't an isolated case. It happened everywhere.
So we are made to believe that China can somehow control all of it's 1.4 billion people, all day everyday? And that all these people live in fear of Big Brother? It's just insane to think about the logistics behind an operation like that. It isn't physically possible. The thought that maybe, just maybe, they are actually doing a decent job in running their country and keeping their people happy is just so far removed from the western brain that you can't see it as anything but racism.
You know for a fact that 90% of westerners belive genuinely that Chinese and Russian people (aka the inscrutible orientals) are genetically/culturally incapable of rebeling. And they believe this despite these 2 countries having launched the most famous and successful revolutions in history.
The fact that you can even float this kind of narrative shows just how smooth the typical westoid brain is.
