Fuck tips. If you work, you should be getting a living wage, not hoping you score a $100 tip to scrape through the month. Tips are a wage subsidy for corporations.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Yup. This is slapping on a bandaid for a very select few. The real problem is wages and cost of living.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is as little as possible, and it will be used in lieu of an actual minimum wage increase. Democrats will coast on it for as long as they can before they do as little as possible again in another 15 years.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

B b but Dems bad! That didn't take long from you.

If you want them to do more, then you have to vote and give them consistent victories in all 3 houses.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

If Democrats want me to say good shit about their complete lack of effort towards raising wages, they can raise wages. Until then, I'm going to gripe about it.

Government workers and blue states got theirs, so it's no longer a problem as far as Democrats are concerned.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

If you want them to be more progressive, then they need to win elections first. When they lose, they go to the center to find voters. They've had all 3 houses (presidency, house of reps and Senate) for 4 years of the last 24 years. 6 years of the last 32 years. 6 years of the last 44 fucking years. They are on an epic losing streak because the left never shows up to vote. And you wonder why they go to the center to find voters?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just support them for a few more decades no matter how many times they betray you, and they'll totally do what you want.

Inflation outpaces incrementalism. It's why Democrats are so enamored with it.

Sinema's thumbs down defines the party until they do better.

I still vote for the shitty anti-worker party over the shittier more anti-worker party, but since I gripe, you have to pretend I'm not voting so you can lecture me for not being as delighted as you are that the party won't fix shit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Few more decades? You're talking as if they've had control. They have not. I already told you they've been on an epic losing streak because the left never shows up. They've had control of all 3 for 6 years of the last 44 years. 6 measly years, out of the last 44 fucking years. That means they have to reach across the aisle for 38 years of the last 44 fucking years. Can't handle this huh? So you have to pretend ... whatever that stuff above was.

And you wonder why progress is slow?

Who said I'm pretending you don't vote? I'm using the term you in broad sense.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We gave them a majority. But no majority ever counts.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A majority in exactly what and when? You're being vague. Because I've already covered it. They've had all 3 of house of reps, Senate, and presidency for a measly 6 years out of the last 44 fucking years. They need all 3 to do much of anything. If the GOP has a single 1 they can easily, easily say no. Which is exactly what they've been able to do for 38 years under the last 44 fucking years.

Read that again 38 years out of the last 44 years the GOP can just say no. Actually that's not right. It's far more than that when you include the filibuster.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They had a majority when they worked with Republicans to kill the minimum wage increase.

They lost credibility on the issue then and there.

Or gained it by doing what centrists prefer, which is why you keep making excuses for them.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

What 8 senators voted against was tacking it onto covid relief Bill. And/or the specific dollar amount which they could discuss later when, oh I don't know, after the covid relief bill went through.

Moderate Democrats who rejected the increase signaled that they would be willing to negotiate once the stimulus package became law.

“Senators in both parties have shown support for raising the federal minimum wage, and the Senate should hold an open debate and amendment process on raising the minimum wage, separate from the Covid-focused reconciliation bill,” Ms. Sinema said in a statement.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/05/us/minimum-wage-senate.html

But you have to try to equate this to everything under the sun.

What did the centrist prefer? Please be specific. You're being vague. Just so you can get that jab out of "making excuses", when I'm describing the reality and details of how things work.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And/or the specific dollar amount which they could discuss later when, oh I don’t know, after the covid relief bill went through.

Look at how that happened. The last word was Sinema's thumbs down.

What did the centrist prefer?

The permanent silence of the left and only the left.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

How what happened? What are you even trying to say? You're making no sense. It's all coming back to me, you're the guy that never makes any sense.

And you continue to make no sense. How does the next part even fit in the context of what we were discussing. It doesn't. Yeah it's all coming back.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Anything that isn't immediate acceptance of excuses makes no sense to you.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

And you don't even try to explain it, so you either don't want to have a real conversation or you're revealing that you're intentionally making no sense.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

And you don’t even try to explain it

It doesn't matter how many times I explain it. You're just here to insultingly expect me to buy your shitty excuses.

HoW wHaT hApPenEd?

How this shit:

And/or the specific dollar amount which they could discuss later when, oh I don’t know, after the covid relief bill went through.

Never fucking happened. Sure, we'll totally revisit it. And yet nothing fucking happened. No discussion took place. Sinema's thumbs down was the final word on the minimum wage, and that's exactly how you like it.

Now pretend in the worst faith imaginable that I haven't explained it. Pretend you don't understand. Pretend Democrats still have a fucking shred of credibility on wages.

There are people in their 30s who have never seen a minimum wage increase in their working lives, and it's looking like Democrats just want to delay that until everyone gets used to the minimum wage never going up.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Ah you turn to mocking when you are clear as mud. No point in continuing, you're just a troll. Yup and you show that multiple times. It's been a pleasure.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Congratulations on your party's victory over working people. Whichever party it is.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Way to confirm you're a troll.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Democrats said they would revisit the minimum wage. It was a fucking lie and everyone knew it. Democrats now say they want to raise the minimum wage.

They are not trustworthy. You want me to believe a lie and I don't think you believe it yourself.

It's what he said.

If you're not able to pay your employees a living wage, your company does not have a viable business model and you need to either change it to a viable model or shut down the business.
