I am, of course, talking about ๐Ÿ’ฟโค

All the previously available games and hacks are still on the site, but updates will apparently be posted to a repository on another site that requires you to register a forum account (which seems to be unrestricted at the moment)

Oh well, I guess the content is still there for now. I suppose this (or worse) is the eventual fate of any cool place on the internet

I feel like too many people getting hype over emulation on specialty handhelds etc blew up the spot for a lot of these sites. Oh well, it's just how things will be for now :/

All the emulation content and guides on Youtube as well as emulation breakthroughs being reported on in mainstream gaming outlets probably did a lot of harm, even if emulation definitely deserves to be celebrated and discussed. I'd argue phones becoming more and more powerful is much more of a factor, though. Way, way more people have decently or very powerful phones than have Steam Decks or cheaper emulation devices.

Also, apparently people on TikTok were making setup guides where they just told people to go to specific sites like Vimm's Lair to get games. At least Youtubers are generally smart enough just say something along the lines of "I cannot legally tell you where to get ROMs or BIOS files, please use Google." Which still sounds very sketchy, I'd just tell people to dump their own BIOSes and games.

The kids I used to hang around in high school would say stuff like this whenever we talked about emulation at school way back in the 00s. I guess we had intuition about the Nintendo hit squads lol
