The moment the majority of muricans realise that their pity wars against "the others" are nothing but distractions. When Nazi and leftist hold hand against in the fight against those that fuck them both equally raw, without caring for their ideology in the slightest. That's the moment change may happen. Cult vs cult, politics vs politics, straights vs lqbtq, white vs black, etc. It all doesn't matter to those who own you and milk you bloody.
The people have to be gathered in groups to fight other groups that are real and graspable. An enemy they can see. When one wakes up from that, change can occur.
But sadly legions of you guys are fighting for economic survival, there's not much time to ponder about life. Also by design.
