Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

MODERATORS

Some politicians are so fearful of former President Donald Trump retaking the White House that “they don’t really want to tell the full truth,” West said. “[Biden has] created the best economy that we can get. Is this the best that we can get? You don’t tell that lie to the people just for Biden to win,” West said in a clip played on CNN Sunday.

the amount isn't the dispute. it's the source of the debt.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait, you're calling it a lie in huge letters because the person said half a million in child support and not half a million in child support and taxes? That seems needlessly nitpicky and also needlessly aggressive.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

considering the tax debt is 90% of that amount, i'd say the article itself is being dishonest.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm not sure owing tens of thousands in child support is the glowing endorsement of Cornel West you think it is.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

his kids are all grown, so i think it's actually moot.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Why is it moot that he neglected his children just because they're adults? I'd say that neglect says a lot about his character.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

he didn't neglect his children.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He absolutely did. He didn't pay child support. That's neglect.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

you can call it neglect, but i'd look to the people involved, not some court in racist usa to tell me whether they were neglected.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah, you just blamed someone for their son's death. I don't think you get to have this conversation anymore.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

no, i didn't, but toodaloo

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don’t think you get to have this conversation anymore.

i don't let fascists tell me what i'm allowed to talk about.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And now you're namecalling. Block time. I do not tolerate Reddit behavior.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

i love the lemmy block system

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

as far as i know none of his kids have died or agreed to be a gun-for-hire for his employers, so west is still a far better father than biden in my opinion.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Whataboutism is also not a good endorsement of a neglectful parent. And blaming Biden for his son's death is sick.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yes he was. He didn't play child support. And suggesting Biden killed his son is disgusting.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i never suggested

biden killed his son.

you're putting words in my mouth

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nope. Everyone can see what you wrote.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

sure can.

i thought you didn't want to have this conversation any more

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're still not a good reader no matter how many times you repeat that falsehood.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

oh, my mistake: you thought you could tell me what to do.

no.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

child support is not a good measure of whether a child has been neglected, in my opinion.

i thought you didn't want to talk to me any more.

i didn't blame him for his son's death, but children dying can be a pretty good indicator of neglect

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

His son died when he was 46. What the fuck are you talking about?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
