A few initial paragraphs follow:

The accusation by the UN and other humanitarians that Israel may be committing a war crime by deliberately starving Gaza’s population is likely to significantly increase the prospect of legal culpability for the country, including at the international court of justice.

Amid reports that the Israel Defense Forces are hiring dozens of lawyers to defend against anticipated cases and legal challenges, the charge that Israel has triggered a “man-made famine” by deliberately obstructing the entry of aid into Gaza is backed by an increasing body of evidence.

Already facing a complaint of genocide from South Africa at the ICJ, the UN’s top court – including an allegation that senior Israeli political officials have incited genocide in public statements – Israel is also the subject of a provisional emergency ruling by the court ordering it to admit life-saving aid to Gaza.

On Wednesday, the US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, underlined the growing sense of crisis as he warned that all of Gaza’s 2 million people were experiencing “severe levels of acute food insecurity” – the first time an entire population of Gaza has been so classified.

Unlike other issues related to Israel’s conduct in its war against Hamas in Gaza, which has claimed more than 30,000 lives and displaced more than 85% of the population amid widespread destruction, the human-made famine occurring in the Palestinian territory appears more straightforward.

As a German I wish that our government’s lesson from the Nazi regime wasn’t “No more hate against Jews”, but rather “No more exterminations of minorities”. It’s sad how timid our politicians are in condemning Israels actions. “The war against Hamas” stopped being “Self-defence” when Israel cut of gas, water power and food supplies to the whole population—which was well before the armed invasion.

To be fair, Germany wasn't the only one to learn the wrong lesson from that episode. Israel and vast swaths of the western world did as well. Not sure what it's going to take for them to learn the right lesson if ever. But it will sadly be horrific again. I'm sure. Already is really.

I love how the media slow walks this so hard and gives Israel every damn chance to back off.

CNN was interviewing a group of Israelis who want to colonize Palestine and I swear to god the host said “That sounds like ethnic cleansing” with a puzzled look on her face, waiting for some cogent response.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck….

This isn't a "man-made famine" it's literally an ethnic cleansing, the zionists want to wipe the Palestinians off the planet. The ones they don't kill with their guns they want to starve to death. This is a colonist genocide, I am so tired of the media finding all these ridiculous descriptions. It's a genocide. They need to be asking why the hell aren't we stopping these monsters?

Well a "man-made famine" fulfills another part of the genocide definition

Killing members of the group;

Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

So it's important in the sense that it's one step closer to a definite conviction of a genocide.

It's definitely ethnic cleansing. But fucking bureaucracy bullshit, so they're probably following the four-stage strategy

I got banned from world news on lemmy because I argued one of these genocidal Israelis and they ended up spamming and mass reporting me after they obfuscated the thread. The only and worst "personal insult" I used, once, was "IDF troll", and that wasn't even bullshit.

I'm so tired of nothing good happening in the world.

You want to start a revolution with me, friend?

How’s about we all abandon any support for Israel at this point. For those who had it, for those who never did. I think we can agree that they’re the baddies in this situation and everyone, everywhere should do whatever they can to end their desires for a complete and total takeover of the Palestinian state. In fact a “two state solution” should be fully accepted by Israel or they should be sanctioned and occupied until they understand that occupation isn’t okay and they should just give up

[–] Reptorian 5 points 8 months ago

I think militarized occupation enforcing two states solution along with a long trial of investigation to put the problematic actors behind bars is long overdue. The settlers, and groups like Hamas both needs to be addressed (in separate manners, but still a loss). And Israel should be prepared to throw the settlers under the bus as they do more harms to the state of Israel.

‘Man-made famine’ charge against Israel is backed by mounting bodies of evidence

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

So, can we all agree now that Israel is a faminist country? /s
