Dear President Biden and Secretary Blinken,

We write to express our shared concern and outrage regarding the recent Israeli airstrike which killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, including an American citizen.

A life that mattered has been snuffed out!

In light of this incident, we strongly urge you to reconsider your recent decision to authorize the transfer of a new arms package to Israel, and to withhold this and any future offensive arms transfers until a full investigation into the airstrike is completed.

Until the bullies have had time to investigate their behavior and find no wrongdoing, please consider not giving them guns

If this strike is found to have violated U.S. or international law, we urge you to continue withholding these transfers until those responsible are held accountable.

If the bullies do find that they have actually been bullying, we would like you to please vigorously slap their wrists until they promise to switch out wrists and do better

We also urge you to withhold these transfers if Israel fails to sufficiently mitigate harm to innocent civilians in Gaza, including aid workers, and if it fails to facilitate or arbitrarily denies or restricts the transport and delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Also please consider not giving them weapons if they continue using weapons in a way that Looks Bad

It is estimated that over 32,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the start of this war, nearly half of whom are children. The most recent report from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification initiative (IPC) indicates that 1.1 million people in Gaza are experiencing catastrophic food insecurity and widespread famine is imminent and expected to occur anytime between now and the next month if there is not an immediate cessation of hostilities.

It's really hard to get a square meal during active conflict, which really sucks!

Yeah not that the WCK aid workers lives didn't matter and I'm happy if this leads to a ceasefire but this has so deeply illustrated the gulf between how some human lives are valued compared to others. Like I figured globally maybe some lives would be valued a few times as much but not 10,000 times as much. Even in Vietnam there was less than a 100x difference if you want to analyze it between Vietnamese and American lives lost.

A bunch of redditors were telling me that Biden couldn't just stop the weapon transfers since they were part of a deal that had already been made. I wonder how many days it will take him to do it.

Ya know, of all the kinds of lib, rule-lawyer might be the most exasperating.

It's not that I like genocide, but dang it, a contract means something.

What’s even more annoying is its post-hoc counter-factual rules lawyering. The US has domestic laws and is party to international laws that specifically prohibit giving weapons to countries doing genocide.

There is a deep autistic part of me that genuinely wants someone to go in and be like “Oh okay so we like the rules? Alright we’re gonna apply them then.” and actually punish the people in power for their literal blatantly illegal actions.

I need a rogue sheriff who’s willing to arrest Nancy Pelosi for insider trading when she happens to be in his town. Give me a mayor who wants publicity taking Trump out in handcuffs for breaking a mask mandate. Where’s the Capitol Police sergeant willing to arrest Biden on suspicion of illegally selling weapons to a country committing genocide?

What’s extra infuriating is if anyone did one of those things, even if it doesn’t actually work, you’re now set for life on the talk show circuit. Everyone wants to hear from the sheriff who put Trump in the back of a squad car.

Funny, that's also their response to him continuing all of Trump's policies. If everything he does is just following orders and continuing with previous deals, why even bother with a head of state at all?

At best that just means the deal did not, apparently, include terms on not using the weapons for genocide.

Trudeau also used this excuse to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia during the height of their campaign against Yemen.

Nancy just wants the bombs to be dropped on China instead of Gaza
