One of the biggest cultural shocks I had as a german was traveling to Ireland because their museums aren't like ours.

You go to a museum in germany that deals with violence and, correctly, they're all like "this sucked shit and should never be done because it was a crime against humanity"

You go to a museum in Ireland that deals with violence and they're like "We shot 10.000 english people who all deserved it and if we didn't you wouldn't be reading this. If they ever try anything again we'll shoot 100.000 of them. Fuck em!"

Yes, my experience at the (I think recently opened) 1916 Uprising Museum was that they are much more open about all the radical contributors to the struggle for independence.

I'd like to know what's going on in his brain that makes that an "own"

[–] [email protected] 57 points 3 months ago

Something something "everyone hates filthy terrorists I'm so smart"

[–] [email protected] 33 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Given that the protest in the image took place in London, I'm assuming he's trying to paint them as "disloyal" to Britain.

Imagine being loyal to Britain

Conflating the plight of the Palestinian with The Troubles, and assuming your audience is on the side of the oppressors

[–] [email protected] 63 points 3 months ago (1 children)

is this supposed to be an own against Palestinians and the Irish? cuz it sure aint

[–] [email protected] 62 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Here is an own. Celtic FC was fined 8500 pounds, by EUFA, for Green Brigade fans flying Palestinian flags at their match vs Israel team Hapoel Be'er Sheva. Green Brigade launched an online campaign, "Match the fine for Palestine." They raised 176,000 pounds, which were donated to a couple of organizations in Gaza.

Almost two years have passed since the donation was handed over. Although the money raised has and continues to make a difference, plans have been at work in the background to cement a stronger, lasting legacy. 2019 brings the official launch of Aida Celtic, a football academy representing Aida Camp. Managed locally by the Lajee Center and supported internationally by the Green Brigade, it is hoped that Aida Celtic will benefit from similar levels of support and generosity afforded to the campaign which lay the foundations for its formation.

That's what us loony leftists call solidarity, motherfucker

“The situation in Palestine is a classic example of land that is being taken from people who lived there for generations. It chimes in with the course of Irish history.”

Now you do yours, spokesman dick head

[–] [email protected] 43 points 3 months ago

Hun it's like people take issue with colonialism or something soviet-hmm

[–] [email protected] 41 points 3 months ago

Incredible self own

Some zionist on tiktok was posting about how the Irish and Palestinians did not fight the Nazis in WW2. It was infuriating.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 3 months ago (2 children)

You wanna know who also technically didn't fight the NAZIs? Israel... (you can argue the colonial government under the British but that would also include Palestine...)

I could be commenting at a straw man you made up, but still, stupid

[–] [email protected] 27 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Considering Ben Gurion didn't want holocaust survivors to come to settle Israel because he considered them subhuman, and he thought that Israel should only welcome young settlers who didn't get sent to the camps, yeah, I wouldn't put it past them to be like Mark Wahlberg and say "if I was there I would simply not get holocausted"

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I would argue the colonial government fighting the Nazis certainly gave good reason for Palestinians to not flight the Nazis

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

I think he's saying that the colonized are likely to support a country fighting their colonizers, no matter how bad that other country might be.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 months ago

All history is up for grabs now. You can say any idiot thing you want to support your point, whether it's based in any sort of reality or not, and liberal shitheads will nod along knowingly.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 months ago

my house cat didn’t fight the Nazis in worlder war II… trying them at the Prague tom0rrow

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

BRUH. The Zionists cooperated with the Nazis...

[–] [email protected] 37 points 3 months ago

Why make points that are devastating to your case, gov’na? sit-back-and-enjoy

[–] [email protected] 36 points 3 months ago

I once saw a Zionist — one who is actually self-taught in the Irish language — talk about how "the Irish left is Europe's worst" because of their "seething hatred of Israel" or whatever else, and I was just like...

A wall in Northern Ireland

A wall in Palestine

"Do you actually hear yourself right now‽ Do you give even a second of thought to the things you say, before you say them‽"

[–] [email protected] 33 points 3 months ago

Anglos and refusing to take responsibility for colonialism name a better duo.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 3 months ago

palestine-heart if this flag offends you, I’ll help you pack.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 3 months ago

obama-sad how is the left going to recover from this one???

[–] [email protected] 28 points 3 months ago

or: how to drive a bunch of self identified "irish-americans" to question their tepid and media driven support of Israel

then throw in the uk flag and you're definitely losing the city of boston at minimum

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 months ago

I....I....is he actually legitimizing the Palestinian struggle and putting down the British one, or am I just misunderstanding his stance towards British colonialism in Ireland?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

I think Alex Ptak made a similar joke to this on how to explain Palestine to New Yorkers
