A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was involved in a hard landing while visiting a northern region and his condition is currently unknown, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on X on Sunday.

The aircraft came down in East Azerbaijan Province and emergency crews have so far been unable to reach it due to foggy conditions, Tasnim said. It is unclear what the exact status is of Raisi’s helicopter.

Eloquently summarized from another site:

The Cultural Revolutionaries can't believe it wasn't Israel

The Revolutionary Guard can't believe it wasn't a Khomeini power play, clearing the path for succession for the Ayatolla's son

Meanwhile the Secular Opposition is praising god?

They know that the helicopter landed hard but doesn't know anything about the status of the president hours after the incident?

Sounds like they saw the decent on the radar and still haven't been able to get in touch with the crew... which indicates that it might have been more than just a hard landing.

On the other hand... Crashing is a very hard landing....

Or they just don't care to give out any information. Which is apparently pretty normal for Iran.

Or they crashed and everyone died.

That seems to be the new news after a day or so.

Reuters say "Crashes in Mountains", which seems slightly more dramatic.

From the conflicting reports and hours without updates, I think they died
