Hello Hexbear! Though I have never left the site and have been posting alongside you all (federation has been incredibly entertaining for good and for bad reasons), I am now going to make yet another Kor-related post! For anyone who doesn't have context, about a year and a half ago I released an indie RPG called Kor and eagerly shared it with my favorite community on the interwebs, to very kind reception.

And for the first time ever, I'm going to a convention this weekend to share the game in-person. There will be a booth with a demo, some modest displays, and I'll be there to talk to people about it.

Why the heck am I telling you guys this? Well, basically to ask a little favor! I need to spruce up my game as much as I can! So... if you bought Kor on Steam at any point, and you never reviewed it, it would help me immensely if you went and gave it a little positive review. It doesn't have to be depthful or meaningful, it can be a joke, or literally anything, I just need to get the positive number as high as I can. Anything helps when you're not a beast with a thousand maws like Activision or whatever.

As always, if anyone wants to play my game but can't afford it, DM me and I'll try to get you a steam key to play it for free!

Got your back. I'm a horrible typist, and have greatly enjoyed, but never finished Kor.

Hell yes, thank you!

If you need any tips for anything specific, just ask! I know the game turned out pretty hard for a lot of people, and a lot don't want to play it on Story / Easy mode.

Proposal: I buy it on steam for the sale price so I can leave a spiffy review, then I PayPal or Venmo you the full price of the game in exchange for a DRM-free copy.

I’ve really wanted to play your game since you released it, I just don’t wanna install Steam on my machine

You can buy it on itch.io. You get a Steam key and a DRM free download, plus you can set your price if you want to be generous.

(Steam isn’t exactly DRM btw. It has DRM that developers/publishers can opt in to, but games can also just be DRM free. i.e. once you download the game from Steam you can do whatever you like with it.)

This, I will do. That makes sense about Steam. I’ve never gotten into it because most of my time gaming is spent emulating older games rather than buying new ones. But itch.io sounds great.

Yeah, you can grab it on itch for sure! Just keep in mind, if you review it with a steam key from itch, then Steam won't count your review in the ratings total, for some preposterous reason.

But honestly, if you wanna just buy the game at full-price on itch that's more than enough of a trade for me, since it's half-off this week. Bluntly, money is tight as hell and I'm not even entirely sure I can afford going to this con to sell my work. shrug-outta-hecks

What con are you gonna be at?

I would gladly do voter fraud and review your game a second time but alas I would have to make a whole new steam account and that sounds like a pain

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Going to 2DCon!

And lmao don't worry, just one review is PLENTY. You'd be amazed how hard it is to get people who have told me to my face that they will, at some point, review my game, to actually go and do it.

Are there Steam keys for people who bought it on Itch?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

You should get one when you buy the game on itch! If you didn't, let me know and I'll just give you one of my secret ones

Bet, lemme do that rn while I'm thinking about it. You the GOAT, goadstool🤙
