In the company’s zany promo video, a voiceover promises Eve will protect owners from burglars, unwanted animal guests, and any hapless passersby who fail to heed its “zero compliance, zero tolerance” warning.

The consequences for shrugging off Eve’s threats: Getting blasted with paintballs, or perhaps even teargas pellets.

This will signal to the suburban betas that you are the alpha of Cape Coral, FL.

PaintCam’s Kickstarter is set to go live on April 23. No word on release date for now...

Oh it's a scam, how much money did they raise?

€74,190 pledged of €12,000 goal

LOL what's getting developed with 12k of anything? Add a zero to the end of that and maybe you get 1/4th of what's promised here.

I want this to be real if only for the inevitable IoT vulnerability that leaves them open for remote exploitation. inshallah

Why don't kids play outside anymore?

If you've got a half dozen engineers with a garage and some free time you could probably slap together a minimum viable product batman robot. I know a lot of engineers, there's some really freaky shit possible now with 3d printers, CNC machines, and arduinos. with 75k Euro you could definitely get some kind of prototype up and running. Folks make mostly functioning airsoft auto-turrets with old laptops and a few servos, using open-source software to train the targetting system.

remember Palestinian military forces were building modern tandem-warhead RPG rounds in tunnels while under Israeli blockade. Engineers are scary as shit and constitute a strategic military resource that should be monitored and strictly regulated.

Yeah but it's kickstarter, there's no promise that they'll ever deliver on any of this even if they want to.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Tru dat. The few kickstarters i backed, i always figured that money was a gift and if the project ever went anywhere that was a bonus.

yeah 12k is more than enough for a paintball gun, security camera, and a couple of computers to start farting around with existing vision libraries if you've got a few people with time on their hands

To be perfectly honest, it wouldn't stop someone dedicated

Not to mention, even if it did work, you just know it's going to just fuck up like every smart product

Lots of chuds getting themselves drilled in the eyes or groin and dying in their driveways

I did a thing (Boy Boy's bigger channel) literally already did this for a bit lmao

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

makima-huh I Did A Thing is a Boy Boy channel?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Boy Boy is the name of a leftist youtube channel with some decent takes

I think that channel got made after the first channel, I did a thing, took off

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

sure hope no one puts on protective gear and then vandalizes the shit out of this until it is smoking wreckage

There are much simpler and cheaper traps available to deter robbers. They, like this painball gun would be, are all definitely illegal because they would injure paramedics and firefighters doing their jobs.

And thats the issue with this. Unless they've already set up a gratuity to get this past the courts, this won't pass legal muster

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

yeah pretty sure this falls under booby trap laws.

alas no suburban sentry turrets
