Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Elon should be treated like an enemy agent. He's not a naturalized citizen, either.

I'm still waiting for Fox news to be flipping the fuck out about a social media platform being completely biased in favor of a candidate and using their platform to promote them while hindering the other... I guess they can only do that one time

everyone who STILL has a fucking twitter account is contributing to this bullshit

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 hours ago

Its still insane how many active users they have compared to Mastodon. BTW its 500+ million to Mastodons 1 million. Pretty insane number comparison

As well as visiting it. Cut it off, make the holdovers want to move to other places to get back their viewership.

Can we revoke his government contracts now?

Wait... Elon is a complete piece of shit and is doing piece of shit things?!?

Ironically, right-wing Arnold who was a deep-dark republican back in the ancient times stumping for Bush and capturing the Governorship as a right-wing guy is way more reasonable and human than Elmo who's never held any political position at all.

I am honestly impressed that you got that little joke I threw in there. I was just amusing myself with that bit of Irony. Originally, I was gonna go with the Fawlty Towers version.

EDIT: Don't forget how Arnie was banging and impregnating his house maid. He's been a dick himself.

John Adams had tracks printed that warned the colonists about the evil British plot to enslave white men.

Violence, fraud, and intimidation around voting was such a threat in early America, some think that it may be responsible for killing Edgar Allen Poe.

Pulitzer and Hersh used their newspapers to push the country into war with Spain, over another conspiracy theory.

This is not new, it's not even remarkable for it's stupidity.

To those who say MAGA I ask: when were we great? To those who defend Democracy I ask: when were we a Democracy? (don't worry, I'm going to vote for the cop over the fascist, I'm just saying).

Flawed democracy is still democracy.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Why is a flawed democracy preferable to other systems? Why are we convinced that democracy is the only way to run a society? It's not like the only other possible options are autocratic dictatorships, we just refuse to entertain the thought that maybe letting idiots decide how to run a country maybe isn't optimal

Hackers should just destroy X. We would all be appreciative. It would kill multiple birds with one stone.

There’s the CyberCuck bouncing and hopping around like a weird dipshit.

Maybe giving conservatives internet access has been a mistake.

Maybe the internet in general has been a mistake.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Now the internet has been great. It's the anonymity that's the problem. Everyone should just have one account. You could still post anonymously, but you can't get any clout for it. If you want to have clout, you have to have a name and it has to be your actual one.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Some of the worst shitbags in the world are online proudly under their own names.

Anonymity isn't the problem. Instant mass communication between creatures with plains ape brains is the problem. We are not cognitively equipped for this shit.
