They were so out of touch. Since when do random Peruvians care about Dengism lol? Those poor stray dogs man, got killed by some dumb ass, out of touch cult.

There's no way the shining path wasn't CIA, they completely destroyed the communist movement in Peru. Like, do you seriously think massacring random villagers is gonna lead to a revolution? They set back the communist movement in Peru by a century

Peru followed a weird path for a South American country during the Cold War, they literally had a military socdem anti-communist pro-native pro-soviet dictator during the 1960's - 1970's. Shining Path was lead by a stupid fucking white guy, the good Peruvian Communists were the MRTA (Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement) they literally are known for respecting more the rules of war than the fucking goverment.

Nowadays the Shining Path still exists, they are allied with the Ethnocarcerists (Incan Nationalists, Sort of Nazbols) and support the opposition, together with Socdems, Anti-Fujimori libs and Anti-Fujimori conservatives in Peru.

shining path sounds like the name of a cult you would find in a sidequest in skyrim

They're also basically in Far Cry 4, just renamed the Golden Path, with the location fudged, zero actual analysis as you'd expect, and a really rubbish binary 'choice' for their future.

Far cry 4 is actually about Nepal and the maoist guerillas I think

It is, but they nicked an approximation of the name and some other details for Shining Path too.

They waged a righteous protracted people’s war against unboiled babies
