If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine, though we will switch next week to a new country.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly (biweekly?) update is here.

The bulletins site is down.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Add to the above list if you can.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Just got off calls with my family in both Beirut and Damascus. The situation feels extremely tense right now. Our family house in Beirut is quite close to the Hezbollah areas south of Beirut, so the neighborhood will most likely be bombed in case shit escalates. My family in Damascus are maybe relocating to my cousin's farm outside of the city, just waiting to see how everything develops. Very odd feeling in my whole body right now, a mixture of sadness and some weird hope as well. Not liking this "being a part of history" thing tbh.

The IDF tells the Times of Israel it is concerned that Hamas might release more hostages, which might delay the ground invasion.

Imagine being fucking concerned that they're releasing prisoners because that fucking interrupts your bloodlust.

USMC Lt. Gen. James Glynn, dispatched by Pentagon to advise Israel on risks inherent in an invasion of Gaza Strip, has returned to the US.

“Make no mistake: what is, has or will unfold in Gaza is purely an Israeli decision.” -USMC commandant Gen. Eric Smith told reporters.

I'm back from my two-day hiatus from Hexbear, Twitter, Telegram, and similar sites and I feel much better, was really starting to have a breakdown near the end there. Good time to do it too because not a shitload has happened beyond the usual steady drumbeat of Israeli atrocities. Can think more clearly and strategically now, sorted my thoughts out.

At just over 6100 comments, last week's thread was the second most commented thread on the site, of course behind the ~7200 comment thread the week before. At this rate the newschads will be be responsible for the first, second, and third most commented threads in all of Hexbear!

I really really despise the way discourse around humanitarian aid is framed.

Israel's genocide isn't some natural disaster. They are actively bombing, actively killing civilians.

And yet the debate is somehow about whether scraps of aid should be let in to mitigate some of the immeasurable suffering in Gaza. And then Israel or the US and its vassals block it, and somehow this is all fine, this is just a normal diplomatic disagreement here.

All of that is burying the lede. Can Israel not stop genociding civilians? Apparently not. That's not an option. In fact, we'll give them some more weapons to continue the slaughter.

Western journalists cannot be this credulous. Israel's president holds out a supposed "chemical weapons" manual found with Hamas militants that has both the ISIS flag and just the word "al-Qaeda" emblazoned on it. They think you're morons.

Update: I found the document Herzog is holding. It is not a chemical weapons manual, it's an amateurly-published biography of WTC bomber Ramzi Yousef. It contains no instructions, only mentions of Yousef's early plans to use chemicals. It isn't classified or secret, it's a PDF.

It's always interesting how jet pilots dropping bombs are never called terrorists, despite every single one of them being one. What difference is there between throwing a bomb by hand or throwing a bomb by gadget? The "civilized" approach just shields the perp from consequences of their actions, making them a cowardly terrorist as well.

Al Jazeera:

Pro-Palestine rally held in Berlin
Thousands have taken to streets in the German capital Berlin in support of Palestinians and to end the war in Gaza.
One of the posters at the rally accused Israel of “genocide”, while others voiced disapproval of the German government’s backing of Israel. People could be heard chanting “Viva, Viva Palestine” and “Free Palestine” during the demonstration.
The event was organised by an individual and operated under the banner of “Global South United,” according to the police.

I saw some CBC coverage of the two released hostages, holy fuck it's slimy

The scene somewhere in Gaza, released by Hamas, cannot mask the cruelty they have suffered

As the Hamas fighters are shown giving the ladies tea and some biscuits.

In the background, Israeli fighters continue to bomb Palestinian churches, mosques, hospitals, schools, and homes. It seems that cruelty is masked extremely easily.

Starbucks is threatening to sue them for using their name and released a statement that “unequivocally condemn[s] these acts of terrorism, hate and violence,” and "strongly disagrees with statements made by Workers United" (real name STARBUCKS Workers United)

The evil fuckers are going to bomb the hospital. The NYT is coming out and saying Israeli military sees it as a threat and they might also see it as a target.

Israel says Al Shifa hospital conceals underground Hamas command centers, which the group denies.

To people in Gaza, Al Shifa is the biggest and most advanced hospital around — a lifeline, in normal times, and now a place of refuge from relentless Israeli airstrikes.

More than 60,000 people are sheltering there. But to the Israeli military, it is a threat, and, perhaps, a target.

Israeli forces shot their own civilians, kibbutz survivor says (Full interview)

She says the Palestinians treated them humanely, gave them water when they needed, tried to calm them down when they seemed frightened. "Their goal was to kidnap us to Gaza. Not to murder us."

They waited for the police response to arrive to the kibbutz and she says the police started the gun battle.

She says one of the "terrorists" (her words, translated of course) decided to surrender, took her with him, when they got outside she said there were Israelis dead all over the grass; the interviewer asks if the Palestinians did it and she says no, it was the crossfire. She says the police undoubtedly shot them, or at least some of them, themselves. "They eliminated everyone, including the hostages, because there was a very very heavy crossfire."

She says they fired two tank rounds into the small kibbutz home they were all in, killing everyone inside including the hostages, after she was released.

With all of the friendly fire incidents, the clear video we have of IOF troops being completely unprofessional and panicking from even rocks being thrown... I think in the fullness of time it will turn out that a huge proportion of the dead Israelis from the Flood were killed by police, IOF, or settlers. As this woman pointed out - the Resistance weren't trying to murder people, they were trying to capture hostages for leverage.

It's interesting. Considering how Gaza is a city "ruthlessly ruled by Hamas" that, when you watch videos from the city itself, you don't actually see Hamas members or even armed people. Like nowhere, no technicals driving around with big DShKs, no people with AKs hanging walking around, nothing. It's just completely unarmed civilians rushing to the ambulances helping each other out. The city is continuously being bombed for having "Hamas targets" yet we barely get to see them in the streets...

Can someone help me understand something?

Building vocational schools to juvenile offenders so they can integrate to larger society by getting educated - this is genocide

Moving orphans out of a warzone to orphanages where they can speak their own mother tongue, and where the orphans will get elementary education - this is clearly genocide

Building a giant open air prison for an ethnic group, depriving them of water, food, and medicine, then bombing them inordinately, murdering children - this is not genocide, it's just a rational political response to an unusual situation

Azov batallion dude with the callsign Adolf from the SS brigade - not a Nazi

A literal Waffen-SS volunteer from WW2 - not a Nazi

Greta Thunberg - she is a Nazi because she has a stuffed octopus fluffy toy

Wolfsangel, Black Sun, Totenkopf - not a symbol of antisemitism

Pink octopus toy - a clear symbol for antisemitism

Did I get this right? This is what liberals think?

spoilerI'm basically just taking notes, because the mental gymnastics we've witnessed over the past few years have been truly astounding. I might read these back in a few months. We will definitely see more of this shit by the end of the year.

the fact that Hamas is still able, albeit in limited numbers, to infiltrate and fight inside settlements outside of Gaza over two weeks after the war began is pretty astounding

other than that, today has been: more Israeli atrocities (they seem to be escalating the bombings as time goes by), more Hezbollah activity on the border, and more US bases fired at. a big missile attack against Tel Aviv by Hamas too, so they retain the ability to fire pretty far outside the Gaza Strip.

was looking at some Mao quotes. This one seems relevant now.

"This is the so-called theory that "weapons decide everything", which constitutes a mechanical approach to the question of war and a subjective and one-sided view. Our view is opposed to this; we see not only weapons but also people. Weapons are an important factor in war, but not the decisive factor; it is people, not things, that are decisive. The contest of strength is not only a contest of military and economic power, but also a contest of human power and morale. Military and economic power is necessarily wielded by people."

Israel-Palestine war: Israel will flood Hamas tunnels with nerve gas under US Army supervision

Palestinian resistance groups expect Israel to flood Hamas tunnels with nerve gas and chemical weapons under the surveillance of US Delta Force commandos as part of a surprise attack on the Gaza Strip, a senior Arab source familiar with the groups told Middle East Eye.

Israel and the US hope to achieve the element of surprise in order to penetrate Hamas tunnels, rescue an estimated 220 hostages, and kill thousands of soldiers belonging to Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades, the source said in a statement, noting that the information comes from a leak originating in the US. Middle East Eye cannot independently verify the information in the leak. “The plan hinges on the element of surprise so as to decisively win the battle, using internationally forbidden gases, particularly nerve gas, and chemical weapons. Large quantities of nerve gas would be pumped into the tunnels,” the source said.

US Delta Force will oversee “large quantities of nerve gas being pumped into Hamas tunnels, capable of paralyzing the bodily movement for a period of time between six and 12 hours." "During this period, the tunnels would be penetrated, the hostages rescued and thousands of al-Qassam soldiers killed,” they added.

Yeah dude, it'll be like, pew pew pew! Arghh! Another hundred dead terrorists! Wham! Kaboom!

watching the various US special forces become increasingly moronic is really entertaining

Nahal Oz (Hebrew: נַחַ"ל עֹז, lit. "Mighty Stream" or "Mighty Nahal") is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the northwestern part of the Negev desert close to the border with the Gaza Strip

Ok what’s Nahal mean?

Nahal (Hebrew: נח"ל) (acronym of Noar Halutzi Lohem, lit. Fighting Pioneer Youth[1]) is a program that combines military service with mostly social welfare and informal education projects such as youth movement activities... Prior to the 1990s it was a paramilitary Israel Defense Forces program that combined military service and the establishment of agricultural settlements, often in peripheral areas.

The Nahal group (Hebrew: גרעין נחל) is a form of community service developed in Israel, which combines social volunteerism, agriculture and military service. The service is divided into several parts:

The national mission period lasts a year, in which all the core group stays together, under the command of the Education and Youth Corps. During the establishment of the state, the national mission was mostly the establishment of new settlements in periphery areas (by means of Nahal settlements)

What’s a Nahal settlement?

The goal for every Nahal settlement was to become a civilian settlement and serve as a first line of defense against potential future Arab invasions while providing a base of operations and resources for military forces operating in peripheral regions.

The first Nahal settlement was Nahal Oz located in the northwestern Negev desert close to the border with the Gaza Strip.

So these settlements near to Gaza that were targeted are explicitly hybrid military-civilian installations. Militarized communes of military trained populations with the explicit purpose of being the front line of Israeli colonial expansion.

Soldier settlements.

French Communists want alternative to Mélenchon-driven left coalition

“The seriousness of the international situation, as in France, calls on the left to live up to its responsibilities. Unfortunately, it has not”, the French Communist Party (PCF), which is also part of the left-wing alliance NUPES, said in a statement issued on Sunday. The PCF, which met at its National Council, suggests ending NUPES, the alliance formed for the legislative elections in June 2022. It now brings together left-wing MPs in an “intergroup” in the National Assembly. Today, the NUPES, “formed […] under the hegemonic will of [Mélenchon’s party] LFI, has become a dead end”, the communists said in their statement.

“The recent refusal to describe the atrocities committed by Hamas as terrorist acts” and “the insults of LFI leaders, comparing the PCF leadership to Nazi collaborationists” were among the reasons listed in the statement.

This “weakens the rallies needed for peace in the Middle East and the fight against the Israeli army’s war crimes”, the PCF National Council added.

...

However, the Communists still want to “bring together the people, the world of work and the left” through “a rally that is useful and respects our differences”.

...

“I don’t even know what to say about Jean-Luc Mélenchon anymore. I have the impression that he and his camp are engaged in a strategy of permanent conflict”, explained Marine Tondelier, the head of the Green party, on France Culture on Saturday.

Western leftists have gotta be the most useless fucking people on the planet. Holy fucking shit.
