Question about Playstation Plus deals (lemmy.world)

Hello all. I got some cash from family while visiting for the holidays and was thinking about getting one of the PS Plus plans but wanted to ask some advice here.

They say they are all currently on sale but I know everything seems to always be perpetually on sale at the PS store so I wanted to check and see if right now was the best time to buy or wait?

Also, is it really worth the difference between the Extra and the Premium?

Usually ps+ has each year a deal on black friday and days of play (summer). Seldom inbetween

I just took the Premium. Game streaming (Just play instead of downloading 150GB for a big titles) Demos!

Ah okay I missed that and had to go back and check. So the premium has streaming and classic titles.

Would you mind giving me some feedback on how well the streaming works (and how long it takes): So when you go to play a title - like the example you gave where it is 100-150GB, does it redownload the entire game each time, etc.

Also when it says classic titles - what do they have? PS1/PS2 or what is listed there

If it's streaming... There's no download.

The game runs on Sony servers. There's a few seconds/minute delay when you launch tho.

I've tried it for games where input lag wouldn't be an issue, and it was fine. I could probably play a shooter streaming but never tried.

I have good internet tho

Ha okay duh.

Well that gives me something else to think about. I have a fast internet setup as well. That might be worth it then just to have (almost endless) access to whatever.

I’d recommend looking through the Premium catalog first. The vast majority of great games are available via Extra. If you never owned a PS3 it may be worth streaming, but otherwise I don’t personally see the benefit in going with Premium over Extra. Getting extra imo is a no brainer.
