She married a Marxist scholar of course she understands dialectic materialism. You do live in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.

She was telling her dipshit lib kids not to be idealist. Critical support to mama Harris.

Kamala is a Machiavellian crypto-Marxist operator that is playing the long game to take over the United States government. She sounds so wooden and Xan'd out because this stealth operation is so demanding on her mind and body.

i know this is a joke but i really hope theres some hardcore cadre of communists out there doing something useful because i sure as hell am not

Why do Marxist scholars keep having terrible empty suit children

[–] [email protected] 50 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Because Western Marxism doesn't mean shit it's a cultural commodity

[–] [email protected] 23 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

but in this case, Kamala's fucking father was a Black Panther member. (Not your generic, recuperated Western "Marxist" ideology)

In this case, their parents tried to warn her, but the capitalist and liberal systems recuperated her...

[–] [email protected] 21 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I think it just goes to show how strong the cultural hegemony of capitalism is.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 months ago

Wait, did Gramsci coin the term "base" et "superstructure"?

[–] [email protected] 46 points 6 months ago (1 children)

We've already had confirmation the White House pharmacy was basically being treated like an open bar, so you can just imagine the shit Kamala has been on since day one of the administration. She probably doesn't even know what year it is. I wouldn't.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 months ago

I should have campaigned harder...

"I don't know what's wrong with you young people, you think you just fell out of a coconut tree? The tradition of all dead generations weighs like a nightmare on the brains of the living!"

[–] [email protected] 43 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yeah that was the first reasonable thing she has said since she believed women at the debate

[–] [email protected] 31 points 6 months ago (1 children)

IT WAS A DEBATE! 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 IT WAS A DEBATE! 🤣🤣🤣😂 IT WAS A DEBATE, THE WHOLE REASON- LITERALLY IT WAS A DEBATE 😂😂 IT WAS CALLED A DEBATE, 😂 AND WE WOULD TRAVEL TO THE DEBATE, 😂 AND THERE WERE JOURNALISTS THERE COVERING THE DEBATE, 🤣 WHERE THERE WOULD BE A DEBATE 😂🤣😂🤣

Someone needs to make a lemmy.world bot that autoreplies to "biden" and "kamala" in the same post with this exact text

In the fall of 1962, at a meeting of the Afro-American Association—a students' group at Berkeley whose members would go on to give structure to the discipline of Black studies, propose the holiday of Kwanzaa, and help establish the Black Panther Party—Shyamala met a graduate student in economics from Jamaica, Donald J. Harris, who was that day's speaker.[9] According to Donald Harris, who is now an emeritus professor of economics at Stanford University, “We talked then, continued to talk at a subsequent meeting, and at another, and another."[9] In 1963 they were married without following the convention of introducing Harris to Shyamala's parents beforehand or having the ceremony in her hometown.[5] In the later 1960s, Donald and Shyamala took their daughters, Kamala, then four or five years old, and Maya, two years younger, to newly independent Zambia, where Shyamala's father, Gopalan, was on an advisory assignment.[5] After Shyamala divorced Donald in the early 1970s, she took her daughters to India several times to visit her parents in Chennai, where they had retired.[5][10]

[Donald] Harris's economic philosophy was critical of mainstream economics and questioned orthodox assumptions. He was once described as a "Marxist scholar".

Harris's research and publications have focused on exploring the process of capital accumulation and its implications for economic growth with the aim of proving that economic inequality and uneven development are inevitable properties of economic growth in a market economy.[22] From this standpoint, he has sought to assess the traditions of economic study inherited from the classical economists and Karl Marx as well as modern contributions while engaging in related economic studies of various countries' experience.

Harris is said to work in the tradition of Post-Keynesian Economics.[24][25] He has acknowledged the works of Joan Robinson, Maurice Dobb, Piero Sraffa, Michal Kalecki, Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes, Joseph Schumpeter, and W. Arthur Lewis as influences upon his work.

Kopmala is coming to my neck of the woods next week to try to twist the campaign to be about womens rights and abortion as her boss is committing a genocide and backing fascists. Oh and Dems lost Roe during Biden's watch and obama-socialism "well it's just not a priority"

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago

I don't know how it's so hard for them to see (assuming they want to win...you have to assume that otherwise none of this matters) that if they DID SOMETHING about Roe that's insanely easier to sell than "Roe got repealed under my admin, sure. And I did nothing for 2 years. But I promise we will next time!" Like, fucking do something now you dumbfucks. They always promise half scoops of dogshit and then they don't even give the half scoop of dogshit. I want my fucking dogshit!

For the longest time I had no idea that this was a Kamala Harris quote, I just misremembered the Mao quote about correct ideas falling out of the sky and thought this was it and it was making a resurgence

[–] [email protected] 26 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Im out of the loop on this what's going on?

Truly amazing that people are describing that video as Kamala being entirely out of it and spouting drunken nonsense, but that's literally the single most lucid and coherent sentence I've ever seen her deliver.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I'd bet money that she's always dreamed of being an actress. I've never see a pol so truly happy at a podium as she is when she's "on". Bill Clinton is the closest but he's a far distant second. I think he loved the sound of his own voice and he loved the performance art of being a politician. But he was a100% bullshit artist 100% of the time.

When Kamala is "in the moment" it's like she's falling down an elevator shaft laughing the whole time. She couldn't give less of a fuck about anything.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Probably yeah, but she's also definitely on benzos a lot of the time. Her mannerisms when she's actually being weird as fuck remind me of me when I was on too high of a dose of xanax, to such a degree that it makes me feel like, deeply self conscious about that period of my life.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 months ago

100%. You could tell she was on them during the debates too

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 months ago

Yeah, it might not be a common expression, but it makes total sense to me too. There's so much other shit you can go after her for.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 months ago

Holy shit she appears super intoxicated. US politics are such a joke not even the politicians pretend it's serious.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

I just remembered Kamala's husband - Douglas Emhoff exists. I'm surprised Biden hasn't used him to speak out about the difficult situation in Gaza. He's the first Jewish spouse of an American president or vice president. Libs love that shit. I'm sure he's on the same fucking page as the rest of Biden World - "Israel has a right to yada yada..." Or am I wrong?

[–] [email protected] 21 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I don't think it's a hot take, people just clowned on it because Kamala's delivery, as always, was goofy as hell.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 6 months ago (1 children)

These liberals in power like to quote vaguely Marxist ideology BECAUSE THEY KNOW ITS CORRECT (materialist analysis. Obama had that quote that drove republicans INSANE in 2008 or so when he said "uhhh let me be clear. You didn't build that!" (Paraphrasing but close enough) in the context of capitalists always claiming they are the builders of society and industry and whatever bullshit. Which obviously he's 100% correct about. Capitalists inherently offer nothing to the world as we all know) and then they never ever act on it.

One could argue the systems in place would never allow them to act in any way counter to pure US imperialism and capitalism cough Kennedy's head exploding cough but I guess we'll also never know. CIA Agent Mayo got activated in 2020 to bring down the dual guillotine wielding Marxist Leninist Maoist Bernard Sanders. We almost voted in full communism 😢 Chris Matthews promised me I'd see him beheaded on TV. I didn't even know I wanted that until he promised me.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I can't remember the exact quote but it was something like, "Roads and bridges; if you've got a business, you didn't build that. " and whiny libs took it to mean someone doesn't build their own business (which even that is often true depending on the business).

Edit: also I'm pretty sure it was 2012
