Elon Musk's slow transformation into Donald Trump is as disturbing as it is fascinating. Not much good at anything, but incredible at self-promotion so people think he is; obsessed with Twitter and conspiracy theories, then becoming a right-wing demagogue; refusing to pay people he owes and suing everyone who looks sideways at him. Few would have predicted this 10 years ago.

Looks like there's nothing that crazy that we didn't already know; Trump changed his travel plans so he could be present at Mar-a-Lago when his attorneys searched for the classified documents he was hiding from them, basically.

They've given out Loop Hero before, it's a fun and unique roguelite but extremely grindy.

The former president told the group he had a "plan of attack" from a senior military official. Trump characterized the document as "highly confidential" and "secret information" and noted that "as president I could have declassified it.

Sounds like it's the document that was thought to be a plan Mark Milley (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs under both Trump and Biden) made for invading Iran. There were so many news stories about this, Trump was caught on tape admitting to a crime, but for some reason he wasn't being charged for this document specifically. Now it looks like he is.

On top of that, every country in the world would have to be collaborating in keeping it a secret

And that's why conspiracy beliefs always end up including a global conspiracy. It's like solipsism; the whole world has to be in on the deception or it doesn't work.

How does someone like this even get near a mainstream party in the US?

All it takes to be a Democrat is to check a box when you register to vote (same for any other party in the US). There is nothing stopping anyone who wants to from running for the Democratic nomination. Needless to say, he isn't endorsed by the Democratic Party and doesn't have any real popular support. As for why he wants to be known as a Democrat--I'm not an expert on the guy but I do know that he is one of the children of the Kennedy dynasty from the '60s; the Democratic Party is part of his brand, I suppose. He is not a serious candidate, he is almost certainly running specifically to raise his profile and increase the number of followers he has as a professional conspiracy grifter (which has been his occupation for decades now).

This actually brings up a good point that I never thought of before--it seems likely that if aliens have a religion, that religion will become a source of instant fascination to humans and will likely shake up Earth's religious landscape a lot more than the simple existence of alien life would (alien life simply existing would not have much of an impact by itself IMO).

They always justify it with conspiracy theories about how the chosen minority victim is secretly trying to harm them. "Think of the children" is an especially popular tactic.

One of the founders of Reddit mentioned in an interview a while back that it was all bots when it started, to give the illusion of being populated when it was too new to have any users except the people who worked on it. From bots it came, and to bots it will return. The circle of life.

I pretty much agree, maybe if they'd managed to somehow capture the weird feel of Mario RPG's prerendered sprites in real time it would have impressed me more? Not sure, but it definitely looked more generic than the original game in terms of graphical style. Plus I'm just not that excited to play it again for some reason, even though I loved the original.

However, Super Mario Wonder looked so creative, the surrealism drew me in and it seems like the perfect direction to take 2D Mario in. It's the one game in that Direct that I saw and was like "I need to play this".
