Literally had someone tell me they loved (exact words) seeing towns in Tennessee flooded out response to my recent microblog memes post 🙃 I also can’t tell you how many snide ass Dems I see saying that they brought it on themselves by living in a red state, like there aren’t people voting Dem there anyway, or like voting Dem is a magic ward to stop climate disaster from affecting you.

All these people hoarding TP must feel like morons now. (jk, they’re incapable of introspection)

They’re solid wood, it’s hard to misuse those so badly that they become nonfunctional unless you’re washing them in the dishwasher (terrible for all wood) or letting them sit in dirty dishes for ages or something. I haven’t had any issues with the wooden spoons I got from them several years ago.

If you want to maximize production, yeah, you cut at certain times of the year to force the trees to put as much energy into the fruit as possible. But if you just leave them outside they will fruit as long as they are sufficiently watered and have enough room to grow (and it's not insanely stressed from a drought or heat wave, etc). There might not be as many fruits, and they might be smaller, but it will produce. But ideally you always want to choose fruit or nut trees that are native to your region (or at least your agricultural zone) so that they require less upkeep in general.

I can smell the 80s on this and it smells like a smoker’s house (I promise I mean it in a nonderogatory way, that describes my childhood home lol).

I can understand why people aren’t into the titty armor, but I respect putting it on both the men and the women.

Ikea has them for $2-8, depending on the size and type of wood. $85 is for twee decoration or something, yikes.

Yeah, I don’t think it was intended to be comprehensive given that it was a single sentence.

Stainless steel is lighter, and more importantly doesn’t contain flame retardant.

Apparently it’s a promotion for Clean Air Day, I had no idea it was going on until I got on the bus to go to the store today.

My siblings live in an area affected by Helene, and I thank fucking god the one that works in a warehouse has the Gen Z attitude of “get fucked lol” when it comes to employers.

When the worst of the storm was coming through the stance of county 911 was that if you call they’re not coming unless someone is about to die. And yet some of these companies expect people to risk their lives to show up for $10-15 an hour? It’s insane.

I understand why everyone can’t just tell their employer to go fuck themselves, it’s just a horrible situation if you ever find yourself in the position of having to make the call of, ‘do I lose my job for what may or may not be a genuine emergency?’

I’ve legitimately never heard polyglot used to mean “speaks two languages”, I thought it meant “speaks three or more languages.” I can understand it being useful to have a specific term for people raised with two languages from birth/very early childhood though.

Obviously learning a couple of words in another language doesn't really make you bilingual, or being able to say a few phrases. But there's also clearly some point before full fluency where you can be considered bilingual, but how is it determined (formally or informally)? Is it purely vibes based, you'll know when you see it kind of thing?

I'm vaguely familiar with the CEFR levels measuring how much of a language you speak, but if there's a cutoff point for counting as bilingual in there somewhere I don't know where.

Inspired by watching my cat lay on her 6' (2 m) tall cat tower and sleep like a baby. Zero regrets, even if it makes us look like insane cat people for having a giant cat tower right in our living room. She lives here, she gets furniture too!
