It’s good news relative to my expectations which were that things would get worse. But yes, the situation looks quite dire here.

So how do we answer this question in an analytical way that can be agreed upon by most or all factions in the party? Because right now I just see lots of people angrily shouting their totally unfounded opinions and assuming everyone who disagrees with them is insane or a shill. This type of dialogue is extremely unhelpful.

I will say that I do not know if Biden is the best person to beat Trump or if Harris is or if it’s someone else. But I think having the most unpopular incumbent in history who is struggling to mount a campaign makes it a reasonable question to ask.

If anyone has well-reasoned thoughts on this I welcome them but I really haven’t seen any serious attempt to answer this question yet. Perhaps it is unanswerable.

Do democrats? Seems like we’re entering the same fact-free reality as the right, just about 5-10 years behind.

You’re going to need to do some weeding one way or another most likely. There are ways to kill everything but it will come back from any survivors, which could include from neighboring properties depending on your situation.

I’ve had success with overlapping layers of cardboard covered in a deep layer of mulch. Depending on how careful you are it’s likely some will still poke through and need hand pulling.

Another option if you want to preserve existing vegetation is to create an expanding circle of exclusion from which you pull it all out all of it as soon as it appears. This will require a lot of labor and diligence but if you like spending a lot of time in your garden it can work well.

But no matter what, you’ll need to stay on top of pulling it out or it will return from somewhere.

I think there is a world of difference between a Trump presidency with a democratic house and senate and a Republican supermajority. While both of these are unlikely, how close we are to one or the other will make a big difference in how effective the fascist takeover will be.

I personally think Trump is likely to win no matter who the candidate but having a stronger candidate will have a meaningful effect on other races that matter greatly.

Humphrey is only a single data point. We can’t draw much of a conclusion from a single event. Maybe Humphrey lost due to the nomination process but I think it’s more likely he was just a weaker candidate. Particularly regarding his pro-Vietnam war stance which was very controversial at the time.

If you narrow your scope to just the presidency maybe. The real worst case scenario is he completely fails to run an effective campaign and creates a huge red wave sweeping a big group of fascists into power.

I don’t know what you’re trying to say here or what communism has to do with what I was saying.

But is that normalized for cost of living? Highest in the nation might still be near subsistence level in one of the highest COL states.

It’s unfortunate because I actually think there is a need for a lower layer of governance below the municipality but the HOA is a terrible structure for that purpose for many reasons.

I mean not saying he’s the worst, but wasn’t he famously corrupt? I have a hard time getting past that one.

Pretty sure Grant is widely considered to have been a lousy president.

My wife doesn’t usually get visual auras but she becomes extremely tired and disoriented shortly before the pain starts. Is this caused by the same mechanism?

What do people here think about the light rail? Personally I never use it. If it had better coverage or frequency maybe but it’s never a very efficient way to get around for me.

Picking mulberries by the dumpster—mostly above my head but the ones I could reach were tasty.

The flower petals are feijoa—I recently learned they are edible and delicious. They taste like marshmallows.

Hope y’all are having fun and staying safe out there!

Very cool project and glad to see it’s still going strong. Fun fact: I actually helped plant some of the very first trees here when it was just an empty field.
