I think that the moneymen who hoped that genAI will be able to replace wide swaths of the workforce are running up against its limitations in implementation. The company I work for is using a genAI phone bot to make simple outbound phone calls, but it doesn't take any input. There's a planned interactive genAI phone bot, but because it was just making shit up, it's been stripped down to basically an IVR with a genAI voice. I know that senior management were all in on AI a couple months ago, and it really feels like they're trying to do something with AI to make them happy.
If Biden wins the election again, there will be a day soon after that his press secretary will stand behind the podium and say that however-many millions of people voted for Joe Biden. Even though many of those people did so against their best judgement, many oppose everything that Joe Biden has done in his career, many would have never voted for him otherwise, except Trump was the other guy, the press secretary will say this as if that is however-many millions of endorsements of Joe Biden, everything he stands for, everything he's done, and whatever he's doing in the current news cycle. I'm not going to be one of those however-many millions of people. I'm not going to hear myself bring referred to as a reason that a genocide supporter will continue materially aiding an ongoing genocide.

The Trump Presidency brought many libs to the left; it made apparent that the concrete institutions of the United States are made of paper, and can be torn up by anyone close to them. It also pushed those on the right further; they felt empowered to be more reactionary, far right leaders thought that they had more popular support than they did. It may be that they don't think that everything will be normal if they act like everything is normal, but by acting like this is the way that the structures of power are meant to operate, fewer people will lose faith in them and seek alternatives.
