There was this PSA film that I was shown in school when I was a little one. I can't remember what it was about, only something that happened close to the end.

These two women are arguing in the middle of a street with your typical PSA quality acting, and then one of them swings for the other. I guess she was just supposed to be knocked over by the punch but instead she does a 360 degree spin and spreads her arms out so she falls in the middle of the road, posed like Jesus on a crucifix. To this day I have to bite my tongue around Catholics 'cos I see the little Jesus (jesuses? jesi? Jeese? Jesopods?) on their necklaces and get flashbacks to that over-acted punch on start to lose it.

There were (as far as I'm aware) two different baked bean themed candidates running for parliament this year.

The other one, Captain Beany, ran in Maesteg.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yep.

For example, they lost the Tory marginal seat of Dyffryn Clwyd 'cos they had the brain genius idea of merging it into Wrecsam.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago

I rant about the UK general election for a secTories lost all their seats in Wales michael-laugh. They're all, like, "what happen?"

What happened was you ratfucked the country for 14 years and offered nought but culture war shit in exchange. Then, in a stroke of pure genius, when you cut down the amount of parliament seats in Wales you mashed Labour voting urban areas into your rural Tory heartlands. You openly praised Margaret Thatcher, who's regime destroyed Wales in the name of personal gain. Wales was in crisis and all you did was whine about speed limits.

On the TV last night, Andrew RT Davis spoke in a lot more stereotypically Welsh way than he usually does as he tried to emphasise the difference between Tories and Welsh Tories, perhaps in an attempt to shield himself when the senedd elections come 'round.

In other, bleak, news, fucking Luke Nukem got his seat. Labour's most genocidal freak is probably gonna get a nice, comfy job on the front bench.

Farage managed to slither his way into Clacton, and the blame lies solely on labour's shoulders for banning their own candidate from campaigning.

Lotta Tory votes swang Reform, we're in our Weimar era lads.

Jezza's landslide and Starmer only beating Feinstein by a hair's breath should be a message that Labour needs to re-evaluate its views on Palestine. They ain't gonna tho, they're gonna look at the handful of seats Reform got and say "we gotta get more racist with this."

Biden's like Yoda

Incapable of seeing the fascism swelling up in the republic?

Unwilling to acknowledge let alone address systemic injustices?

Like, 1000 years old?

About to self exile to escape his fuck-ups?

I hate to swing these accusations around but...

Join a climate, queer, or indigenous protest group. Attend local council meetings. Start a cult.

Swerving into an established political group and trying to morph it into an aggressively sectarian, niche ideology sounds like some spy cop shit. Like, that's one of the ways British cops would try to force splits in communist orgs back when communism had political relevancy in Britain.

Not saying this is what's going on here, but that's the vibe I'm getting.

That’s my thesis though. These are actual bigots and trolls painting themselves pink.

The fact that Blahaj has this dickhead in the comments accusing trans people of lying about their identity and hasn't been given the ol' barbara-pit treatment. cringe

I don't know who any of these people were so I was terrified there was gonna be a triple brackets on that post. Like, liberals getting completely scratched.

I'm voting Plaid Cymru. Plaid tend to be a bit of a mixed bag in terms of political alignment due to being primarily a republican/nationalist party, but they've been outflanking labour from the left (even in the senedd where labour tends at its furthest left) and holding them to account a lot better than other opposition parties.

I'm expecting labour to win and continue the tories' policies, so smaller more soccdem parties like Plaid gaining seats might help reduce the harm they cause (especially in regards to trans rights, where labour has gone full Rowling).

Also helps that their candidate is a local lad while everyone else except the labour incumbent (who's a massive dickhead) have been parachuted in from elsewhere.

This is an incredibly bleak view of writing.

Like, that prose exists as an obstacle to understanding the story instead of being part of it and that you can optimise a story into a Wikipedia-ass summary.

All the meaning of a work burnt away for something with all the dryness of an CRPG battle-log.

"Liberal elections are like my hecking Star Wars."

(Ironically, they're right 'cos Jedi were centrist tools ideologically unable to tackle any systemic inequality in the Republic's liberal hegemony.)

Edit: don't know how to link specific YouTube comments, but it was in the comments of this video.

In my free time I've been playing a bit of Project Zomboid recently and stumbling 'round the McMansions of KY's various towns has made me think about how inherently hostile suburban infrastructure is.

Like, until you can get a car in working order, travel out of and through the suburbs is slow and tiring. Prepare to take days out of your travel time as you run down empty roads, hop fences, and do all sorts of other things I hear gets you shot in the US. As the power goes off and perishables begin rapidly decomposing, you are trapped in a maze-like prison of mankind's making (its occupants only marginally less hostile than a real-life suburb). Seeds are scarce and the only greenery is the copy-paste lawns surrounding you in every direction. If you've thought ahead you've stockpiled your tinned goods, otherwise prepare for a long hike through a world not built for man but instead the machines that they convinced themselves would make their lives easier.
