Yeah, I’m getting ready to stop scrolling “All”. It’s becoming more depressing than Reddit or Facebook ever was. US Presidential Election year rage bait is back in full swing I guess and Lemmy isn’t immune. I might lean more back into my hobbies, personal projects, and games while keeping my news feeds on a weekly review.

Ah yes, I love tech jargon overload

I just dipped my feet in Vim yesterday, I found it not intuitive at all. :wq! To exit a read only file? I’m too dumb to think of syntax like that!

My friend, let me introduce you to parking spaces.

Right? I got a PRS in 2020 and a few months later decided to redo my first strat. I’ve barely touched the PRS and the reborn budget strat gets all the attention!

Nice! Love to see this! I’m rereupgrading my first electric guitar. It’s a budget strat. I redid a bunch of things on it in 2020 but I miss the stock pickups. They had a tone quality I haven’t been able to replicate on any other guitar. I’m also returning it to mostly its original look with a new pick guard that has the same style. And I really wanted locking tuners like my Charvel has. Also thinking of sanding down the back of the neck to remove the glossy finish. I’ll keep the 2020 upgrades attached to the old pick guard and do hot swaps when I get bored with the new setup. Excited to see stuff like this, maybe I’ll share my rebuild with this group!

I remember when the algorithms started sorting by engagement rather than chronologically. I quickly came up with a workaround to keep my feed the way it was, but, eventually that workaround was removed. I still checked the website occasionally but noticed the overall tone becoming less vane, over sharing, people using it like journals and selfie bombing to more angry, rage filled, posting news articles, boomer cartoons and jpeg fuzzy memes. It took a major turn after 2016 elections in US. Instagram was my go to after that but in about a year or so the same sequence of bs started happening. Haven’t really engaged with either service since 2020 save for occasional things to check a couple times a month.

Take it a step beyond! Instead, tell them they have to eat your shit. For them, best case scenario, you actually die and they can’t eat your shit.

That last one lol, G.O.A.T.S.E.X. Your creativity is wonderful!

Sorry, I had to double take when I saw the crystal left of your center speaker. I thought I was trapped in another “find the dildo” moment.

lol, the offer is pay $200 starting fee to your upline before we send you to brainwashing “training” sessions. “Before you know it you’ll be raking in millions!” I had a buddy of mine fall into an MLM after failing to sell his handmade creams. I think he’s still trapped in it while his wife works her ass off to make ends meet with their two kids. Feel bad for her more than him. But more angry at MLMs, truly scummy.

Being on the applicant side, you almost will never hear from or speak to a human. There is no way of validating what the result of the job wound up being. Was it filled, cancelled, did the company die? Likely filled, but often you won’t even get an automated response for 6 months. I haven’t been on the applying side in almost a decade, but I recall submitting something like 50 applications a week. I’d usually get a call back for a role or two every other week, and out of the 12 or so interviews I landed, 5 went to second interviews, and I received 2 offers. I was still fairly early career then but the hoops I had to jump through just to land a call was insane! Don’t get me started on hiring processes now, my company requires video resumes for outside applicants. It’s so unnecessary! Sorry for the word wall!
