I saw a video of soldiers in Ukraine ducking into their trench while you hear a drone fly around. Then you hear and explosion in the distance since the drone luckily found someone else instead of them a hundred feet away.

Terrifying stuff tbh.

Yeah there's no implication that the person has to leave the house, or get off the sofa. Just watch some Netflix or some things and chill out. Hilarious to get stirred up about that.

White supremacy and patriarchy are like the two largest forces that turn the gears of "Western" culture.

This isn't to say that other cultures don't have their own issues with that sort of stuff, but when you are politically and economically dominant, it's gross to have those social forces at your core.

From the post it implies that 175A was going into the house (but bypassing the meter so it couldn't be caught there)

So yeah it would be like ~+1 maxed out house running like 10 space heaters

The post say s it was 175A which is substantial but still not enough to notice at a neighborhood level of they were monitoring there.

I plan to come back to this in the next day or two.

If the Philippines government complains they probably would have a point, but obviously they weren't included here in the article (probably cause they were notified of the launch lol)

My opinion: not quite, but you're getting up against the borderline. You can get "creative" with it if you want, but more importantly do good work in the other aspects of the job and salt the union and you'll have more than made up for any "sins" you may commit.

Why not just post it and make it real?

If you support Palestinian liberation, I think it would be wise to replicate Mr. Zomlot's representation of his people's issues. It's worth a watch.

CDMXicans, please chime in

But yeah it's wild the way the city is on a whole lakebed that was drained cause the flooding was too inconvenient to the Spanish colonials, and the last bit of it that was still remaining was about to become a whole ass airport. I guess AMLO won just in time to cancel it (partially complete) and turn it into an Ecological Park. A huge W for a place that needs a sustainable source of water. It's pretty damn convenient that they already are in a lakebed if they can manage it correctly.

Anyway wealthy business interests apparently were big mad about it.

This is what Mexico City looked like in about the 1520s, before Spanish colonialism.

The past/present overlays are incredible, especially if you've been to the city before.

What is up with this movie? Just watched it recently and it's aged incredibly poorly imo

It's been well established that Tom Hanks is a CIA asset, and we've had a handful of threads about how Forrest Gump sucks this year, and it definitely bleeds into Cast Away as well.

  • The "end of history" moment right at the beginning of the movie, where FedEx brings "freedom" to post-USSR Russia.
  • The whole film is just an ad for FedEx
  • I know things need to look good on film, but decades later, a lot of the survival scenes are simply unconvincing. The firemaking setup didn't look particularly efficient, and the wood didn't really look worn or charred as though it were starting to smolder, it just kinda happens. Same for the idea of throwing a fishing spear, which may happen, but I've never heard of that being successful.
  • Hanks going full Boomer-mode with his mental math in a few scenes kinda felt like it had a tone of "yeah they don't teach this stuff in schools anymore, this is how it's done 😔 "
  • The conclusion was drawn out and boring af, just watching him stand idly at a crossroads for like 15 minutes or something. His interactions with his love interest felt uncompelling.
  • Goes for just about any Tom Hanks movie, but it's like the whitest shit I've ever seen. Watching a PMC bossman try and open a coconut and the movie is acting like there's some sort of supreme ingenuity to it.

Idk I'm probably being over the top, so please pile on or tell me to chill out about it or whatever.

... apparently they're afraid of cooking rice ....
