tbf hunter2 is an irc reference that practically predates reddit but understandable

More and more I find myself becoming the old man criticising 'kids these days' for thinking they invented everything chomsky-yes-honey As I reminisce on the old days where all we had was some ASCII characters, a few special colour and formatting tags, and a /me to top it all off.

hunter2 was one of the top handful of highest-rated quote on bash.org, a site for voting what the funniest* IRC quote was, which was a big part of early 2000s internet culture.

bash.org is down, and they didn't show "added by" dates anyway, but here's a wayback snapshot of the hunter2 quote from June 4, 2004. So yeah, hunter2 fully predates reddit. (Going by my memory, that quote was totally there in 2002, too.)

* This is early 2000s internet culture so "funny" is 90% pointless cruelty and misogyny.

ah, yes, old bash.org, from back when irc quotes, flash videos, and weird geocities pages comprised most of the worthwhile content online.

edit: Huh, it's dead. When did it die?

i believe historically Bash goes down like that randomly from time to time. I actually did find the original post from there last night when I looked and it worked without issue, weird: www.bash.org/?244321
