Seems kind of undemocratic to ignore the demands of the people that voted for you.

He was elected on the pretense that he would cancel student loans, stop covid, fix healthcare, stop the border camps, etc. But he hasn't done any of those things.

Pretty sorry democracy the US has. Some free country should liberate them.

He's not an authoritarian, he needs the backing of Congress to do those things as well as no Supreme Court challenges on those actions. Who are you voting for in his place?

[–] [email protected] 84 points 10 months ago

weird, he didn't seem to need congress to start a war with yemen

[–] [email protected] 76 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If he's not an authoritarian, why didn't he need the backing of congress to give more weapons to Israel?

Who are you voting for in his place?

hillary-contempt doing a write-in, it's her turn

Noooo but the Supreme Court, the unelected body of ghouls wearing robes with lifetime appointments to a position that gives them the power to arbitrarily take away rights and de facto veto power over any federal policy project, but also has no mechanism for enforcing its power and is therefore literally dependent on the rest of the federal government to entertain their fascistic musings, said we can't do that!

And, as always needs to be mentioned, the entire student debt crisis is his legacy, his gift to the people, after making it illegal to discharge student loans in bankruptcy in 05.

[–] [email protected] 72 points 10 months ago

I guess the logical conclusion would be to vote for an authoritarian.

A little kitty cat called Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

Also, really funny how when some third world country nationalizes their lithium reserves (or even does as much as sway to another side geopolitically, as Ukraine did) the US just coups them and makes sure the correct policy agenda goes through. But when people at home ask for even a mild reform to the most broken, insane healthcare system in the world, liberals come out of the woodworks saying we gotta check what the cuckoo clock says and run a lap around the parliamentarian. Be for real, if Biden or any other ghoul actually wanted to get change done, they would've sent Joe Manchin and Sinema an overhead shot of their bedroom and dig out a million old skeletons from their closets, because that's how power operates. You've deluded yourself into thinking this elaborate trapezoid of checks and balances works in your favor when it's just Calvinball.

interesting how everything that might materially help working people is "aUtHoRiTaRiAn"

your "democracy" is a sham and here's why

How come republican presidents don't need both houses of Congress and the supreme Court to advance their legislative agendas?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (4 children)

Because their legislation is usually "nothing". And they DO need both. What they've also done is compromise: they give Democrats something they want and in turn get tax breaks for the rich.

[–] [email protected] 53 points 10 months ago (1 children)

why did you say "tax breaks for the rich" twice

[–] [email protected] 28 points 10 months ago (1 children)

This shit's so frustrating. "America civic religion" pilled, copemaxxxing

[–] [email protected] 32 points 10 months ago
[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago

Because their legislation is usually "nothing".

Then why was everyone freaking out about cheeto-man

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

So why should we be scared of Trump then?

[–] [email protected] 53 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

LMAO, I wonder how many people knew about the parliamentarian before Biden was inaugurated.

Edit - oh shit you're serious. Lemmy strikes again. So if Biden has the power to make lives better through pushing through healthcare or prosecuting Republicans for their actions, he shouldn't?

Is that what you believe? He's called a tyrant regardless and he's allowed things like Roe v Wade to fall through.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 10 months ago

Oh got i forget about the fucking senate pastafarian!

[–] [email protected] 52 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

He's not an authoritarian

He's literally bankrolling a genocide, I'd love to see you explain how that's not "authoritarian"

Oh, and do it without going "buh Drumpf would be worse"

[–] [email protected] 46 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

He's not an authoritarian

Good for him. I'm glad he's a good little boy that followed all the rules. We're all definitely better off for it.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Who are you voting for in his place?

countdown

[–] [email protected] 36 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Well, when every candidate that people have to choose from are absolute garbage that everyone hates, and are probably there because they have funding from unelected donors, I suggest revolution and replacing them with people that are accountable to the proletariat. You know, a real democracy.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 10 months ago

Then maybe he shouldn't have promised them, huh?

[–] [email protected] 34 points 10 months ago

Thanks. I've been looking forward to the right opportunity to use this new emoji jagoff

[–] [email protected] 33 points 10 months ago

Fish on the line

[–] [email protected] 32 points 10 months ago

Oh shit you're serious.

Damn. I'm so sorry.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 10 months ago

i'm voting for cum

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago

So, your admitting that its pointless to vote for Joe as "he aint fixing shit".

Nice!

[–] [email protected] 17 points 10 months ago

Define authoritarian

[–] [email protected] 15 points 10 months ago

He's not an authoritarian

Hey that meaningless term again!

he needs the backing of Congress to do those things

Then why were all you Libs freaking out about Trump? He was just a widdle president after all.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Is it not authoritarian to aid and abet a genocide?
