Title is a reference to Resistance imagery about how Israeli soldiers will enter Gaza alive but leave it in coffins - the same is true for American soldiers in the Middle East if the regional war expands.

The image is of the Fattah-1 Iranian hypersonic ballistic missile, which its creators boast can overcome any missile defense system on the planet, has a range of 1400 kilometers (and thus Iran can strike Israel), and has a terminal impact velocity of Mach 13.

Dozens of American soldiers have been injured and 3 have been killed on a base in the Middle East. There has been confused reports about whether the attack was on Syrian territory or Jordan's - the Al-Tanf base is in Syria, but Tower-22 in Jordan is another base that helps supply Al-Tanf, and Tower-22 is the one that is alleged to have been hit. These is the first confirmed deaths of American troops since the conflict began, though it's not likely that this is actually the first deaths after hundreds of drone/missile strikes throughout the region on American bases, unless you think American soldiers are having extremely timely heart attacks just after a missile hits.

The attack is certainly impactful, though it does also have considerably symbolism. Courtesy of John Helmer:

The operational success of the strike for the attackers is strategic. Tower-22 is a logistics, supply, and rear guard post for the Al-Tanf base which US troops are operating thirty kilometres north across the border in Syria. The attack demonstrates that both Tower-22 and Al-Tanf, Jordan and Syria, are newly vulnerable to weapons which the US forces have failed to detect and neutralize. Just as significantly, the massive US airbase called Muwaffaq Salti, 230 kilometres west across Jordan, is also vulnerable now.

It indicates that Iran now possesses Russian expertise in countering American equipment:

“This is a significant accomplishment,” one of the sources said. “Was the bypassing of the US air defence system at Tower-22 pulled off with Russian assistance? US bases generally rely on the C-RAM [Counter Rocket, Artillery and Mortar] system. It was sent to Ukraine last year where the Russians have been learning to defeat it. What now of American EW [electronic warfare]? They’ve been doing a fair job of knocking drones down up to now. It seems a ‘coincidence’ that, not a week after the meetings in Moscow with Arabs and Iranians, we see this success. It’s a success the circumstances of which, we can be sure, Biden and Austin are not keen to advertise.”

I am putting my take on the table right now: I am 99% certain that the US won't attack Iran directly. I think we are still quite a while away from that being a possibility. Much more likely is that Iranian officials in Iraq or Syria will be hit by a retaliatory strike, as Israel has done recently. It is a significant escalation nonetheless. And it comes as Israel seems to be gearing up for a suicidal war with Hezbollah.

The Country of the Week is Iran! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants. More detail here.

Updates continue to be AWOL - but I am cooking something. Hopefully.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful. Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Guys, New Communist Party just dropped kkkanada

A New Party is Born: Founding Announcement of the (New) Communist Party of Canada

Today, we announce the formation of the (New) Communist Party of Canada (the (N)CPC), the succesful completion of its Founding Congress, and the public release of its Political Program.

The new Party is announced today, but it was not born today. The (N)CPC was born in clandestinity over two years ago, in 2021, after the protracted Unity-Struggle Process of 2020-21 succeeded in rallying communist revolutionaries from across Canada, old and new, with many veterans of what we have come to calling the “third,” and even some from what we are calling the “second,” communist party-building movements in Canada, alongside a great many newer, younger proletarian revolutionaries who were only too ready to carry forward the torch of proletarian revolution in the world today.

they appear to be maoist, of which variant im not sure yet, i dont think they are gonzalites since they normaly name drop him alongside marx, lenin and mao

The Political Program of the (New) Communist Party of Canada

this is their program on a quick glance it looks fine, a funny line about quebec people in the nations of canada sections, but they seem fine, hopefull they will be an ok communist party since the biggest ML one collapsed after trying to hide SA within its ranks.

China and Russia, formerly socialist countries which were under working class rule for many years only to have the bourgeoisie take back power and return to the capitalist path.

So they don't think China is socialist and pursuing Communism. :/

[–] [email protected] 34 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They're maoist so it's fair that they hate dengism

[–] [email protected] 44 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Expected*

Not perhaps "fair."

Look I get skepticism around dengism, it sure didn't look like a great trajectory for a while there and I think it very clearly could have resulted in a full-blown backslide into liberalism in another world. But the current trend of cracking down on the bourgeoisie, nationalizing productive capacity, and commitment to robust poverty relief is really really impressive. I think anyone denying the Chinese project has real potential in the year 2024 just doesn't have a good grasp of more recent conditions. If they're thinking of China in the 90's and even up until 2010 I get it, but the last 14 years have been a slow but steady change in course away from bourgeoisie influence/control.

The situation has improved a lot under Xi but before him China was well on its way towards becoming neolib central. And that shit can happen again after Xi.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

This is basically correct. Most ideologically committed Marxists in China acknowledge that Dengist reform had been absolutely incredible for the first 20 years (in economic terms), the contention is whether China should have stayed on the path after the 1995-96 economic crisis.

Dengist reform brought the PRC its first economic crisis at around 1995-96, with record unemployment and poverty that were never seen before under Mao. Many criticized the decision to join the WTO in 2001 as the “easy way out”, as China pretty much signed away a lot of their labor rights and protection in exchange for a quick economic recovery. A lot of the trouble that China is facing today stemmed directly from those decisions, including its economic reliance still on Western consumerism. If the US goes into recession tomorrow, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs in China, because they never built up the self-resiliency that is needed to withstand the loss of Western importers.

That was almost the naivety of the Chinese leadership throughout the 2000s as you said until Xi came to power in the 2010s, and he is certainly much better than those before him. The hard part is about maintaining this delicate balance of decoupling from the West while making sure not too many people lose their wealth/jobs along the way, as the inevitable has now happened.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 7 months ago

This is what worries me most about China in its current state.

The CPC really needs some change at its core or something to prevent any rightward shift. That's basically what lead to the USSR's dissolution too after all.

I loved it when Jack Ma tried to throw his weight around like a western billionaire and then just disappeared for a while, having only reappeared to say “Hey, don’t worry, the government didn’t shoot me in the head and dump my body in a landfill. We’re all good. Please do not ask me any questions. On an unrelated note, I’m going to go take a teaching position in Japan and never make any more public statements.”

[–] [email protected] 13 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Would have been cooler if they DID kill him imho, but they're civilized people, unlike my anglo brainpan predisposed to violent retribution

[–] [email protected] 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I think it’s way cooler to leave someone alive with the knowledge that they only have what they have in the first place because you allow it, that they can take it away from you at any time, and that they could definitely just kill you if they felt like it.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Worse than that, they repeatedly refer to China as imperialist.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 7 months ago

It is actually worse than that, they basically say in the future there MIGHT be a possibility that it happens

[–] [email protected] 32 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Are they normal about trans people?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 7 months ago (1 children)

you can go to some abortion rights rallies and never hear anyone talk about the oppression of women, instead insisting on woke lingo like “people with a uterus,” because in the postmodernist conception the most crucial aspect is the changing of language to be more woke.

They're extremely upset about "postmodernism", "identity politics", "canceling" and "woke", but they insist they're for trans people in one sentence somewhere, so surely all their complaining about pronouns and verbal inclusion of trans people is in good faith. Anyway, being really vulgar about sex work is always a good indicator of where someone's real allegiances lie.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Anyway, being really vulgar about sex work is always a good indicator of where someone's real allegiances lie.

So they're SWERFs/SWERF-adjacent and anti-China? They're definitely not going to be popular on Hexbear lmao

[–] [email protected] 28 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

They don't talk about them. That is why I am not extremely enthusiastic about them yet. One of the kites journal head guys rants a lot about post-modernism and identity politics, in the same way Rockwell, who has been posted on Hexbear a few times, does. I think that a reckoning with the intellectual tradition of some French intellectuals is necessary, especially their CIA ties. I am sceptical because that usually turns into anti-trans chauvinism. I think they have not done their discussions on that topic yet.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Rockwell

Do you mean (Gabriel) Rockhill?

[–] [email protected] 24 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

https://monthlyreview.org/2023/12/01/imperialist-propaganda-and-the-ideology-of-the-western-left-intelligentsia/

The Institute for Social Research, colloquially known as the “Frankfurt School,” originally emerged as a Marxian research center at the University of Frankfurt that was bankrolled by a wealthy capitalist. When Max Horkheimer took over the directorship of the Institute in 1930, he oversaw a decisive shift toward speculative and cultural concerns that were increasingly distant from historical materialism and class struggle.

In this regard, the Frankfurt School under Horkheimer played a foundational role in the establishment of what is known as Western Marxism, and more specifically Cultural Marxism.

We should note, moreover, that wokeism also has the effect of driving some people into the arms of the right. If the dominant political culture encourages a clan mentality combined with competitive individualism, then it is unsurprising that white people and men have also—as a partial response to their perceived disenfranchisement by the diversity industry—advanced their particular agendas as “victims” of the system. Identity politics devoid of a class analysis is thus absolutely amenable to right-wing and even fascist permutations.

Both Rock~~well~~hill and Kites are usually a bit better than this. And I don't think it's completely unsalvageable. I just don't think picking up right-wing dog whistles helps to convince anybody and in fact is actively courting chauvinist sentiment. I'd have to dig a bit for Kites Article that was like that. I don't think their criticisms of neoliberal capitalist-woke is entirely off, just dogmatic.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Thanks for digging those up, I will do some reading. I generally appreciate Rockhill, but I agree that does not look like a great take or perhaps not framed well.

Yes Maoists waging a protracted peoples war on our eyeballs with that font. This journal has been around for a few years, and they have been hinting that they were putting something like this together. Despite the font, the publication is impressive.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 7 months ago

Not bad, for another Canadian communist party that will go nowhere or end up being a blog for 3 randos

Canadian Maoists CommiePOGGERS

Edit: Ah! Well. Nevertheless,

Too many already

[–] [email protected] 16 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I have been reading Kites Journal for a bit, I think they have decent takes in general, but they are going about this party business too fast. Way too fast imo. Hopefully they can keep out opportunism and feds. They are more pro Gonzalo than most users of this forum would stomach (they don't immediately denounce him as a "cringe ultra"), but they don't worship him feverish-ly (if people think this is what "gonzaloites" do) EDIT: I guess that makes me on of the "sceptics" they dismiss, but I would also admit that I don't feel ready to join a party yet, ability-wise
