Is there a GoFundMe to get this erected somewhere? Because I've got like $5 I'm totally willing to kick in.

If you own a long piece of wood, a flat piece of wood, and some paint, you could make this a reality rather than just paying someone at random $5

I don't own any of those things. Even if I did, I'd prefer a fancy bronze plack on a nice painted metal stand, ideally next to a scenic overlook.

I can get pretty fancy brass, bronze, aluminum, etc. plaques made pretty cheaply.

...

Now I'm getting the urge to make something like this and put it on my apartment door.

Uhm ackchually Earth has been moving through space all this time, so this isn't the place, it's just the atoms which did it.

Which referential are you picking? Is it better than Earth?

We’ve done ~20 orbits around the galaxy since then so we’re way the hell away from that spot.

Relative to us, which is how universal position works, we are in pretty much the same place.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Not to mention the galaxy was moving too.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

Is that why I'm dizzy all the time?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

And the universe is expanding

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm starting to get a little motion sick...

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Don't worry due to your inertial reference frame you can't tell anything is happening.

Must have been a lot of Dramamine going around before Einstein invented that.

I wonder how they got it into their cake holes before Newton finally brought us all to the ground by inventing Gravity.

Relative to earth, it is that place.

Unless you are pretty far up autist and "relative to universe" is only coordinate system you know :)

I want to put one of these in my yard.

Love it! Although, it's 4.54 billion not 4.45 billion

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 months ago (2 children)

How do you know? Were you there?

That's not why it's funny though, in my opinion. It's because every location on earth is where the earth formed, relative to the earth.

Then you need more signs
