"yeah, oil was one important part of it, but though not the only one, geopolitical interests in mind (Saudis, Israelis, Iranians all wanted to whack Iraq, and U.S practicing shock doctrine)"

I think this is more indicative of what he thinks his voters want than the actual intentions. Tbh I think a genuine concern over resource access is giving hawks too much credit. I don't think they care about anything beyond millitary contractors donating to them and their campaigns.

Yeah they've been pretty honest about why they're supporting Ukraine: to dunk on Russia and contain any future expansion.
I still think the latter part is unlikely, but damn, if this is the best NATO can do, maybe Estonia should be sweating...

What minerals? That does not sound rigth. And isnt refining caрacity the main reason china is the main suррlier of rare earths? So even if there were those mineral there whould they be useful without chinese refineries?
