I recently broke my arm and I won't be able to use it for at least a month. I was starting to play STALKER 2 but that's not going to be possible for a while.

Do you have any suggestion for one-handed PC games?

Vampire Survivors and Balatro should keep you occupied until your arm is fixed!

I'm proud of Lemmy today. 45 comments and not a single joke about OP's mom.

Look at super giant games, they have some turn based games that are really good and I think will be playable with one hand

Specifically Transistor

  • Anything turn-based and mouse-driven like Slay the Spire, Dicey Dungeons, Baba is You, Inscryption, Super Auto Pets, Mega Knockdown, chess, riichi mahjong, visual novels, etc. Or anything turn-based in general regardless of control scheme if you're alright with playing slowly.

  • Rhythm Doctor - A one button rhythm game.

  • Crypt of the Necrodancer - This game's control scheme was designed to be possible to play it on a dance pad. Which means you can also just play it with WASD or arrow keys.

  • I wanna shout out Puyo Puyo Champions since it actually has a one handed preset in its controller options. D-pad or ABXY to move and L1/L2 or R1/R2 to rotate. Caveat though is that the Steam version is not at all active online, I would strongly recommend getting it on Switch if you can.

I think Baba is you is better just with keyboard, it's one of the few games that allows for keyboard navigation on menus. I'm also not sure how to even move using the mouse.

Vampire Survivors or Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Came here to say vampire survivors! I had so much fun with that game.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 days ago

Balatro perhaps, the rougelike poker game

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

Ballatro, slay the spire, vampire survivor's, peggle

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 days ago

Turn based stuff is probably pretty safe, assuming that’s your jam. Been playing Rogue Trader and I think you can do most anything with the mouse.

Tacking Pentiment onto that. The premise may not seem super badass, but goddamn if it didn't suck me in and make me feel like I was a part of that town, extremely good game

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 days ago

I mean, just look for turn-based games, hell, you could play Baldur's Gate 3 one-handed.

Dead or alive Xtreme beach volleyball...you know why.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 days ago

Balatro Rimworld Islanders FTL

Strategy games like X-Com

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

The Stanley Parable! It just needs a mouse. You can also play with a keyboard.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Civ 5/6

The Sims or Cities Skylines with edge scrolling enabled

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Dance Dance Revolution

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

If you are able to spend the money, consider getting a flight-stick-style joystick. You can get ones that have multiple thumb buttons, one or more triggers, and you control it all with one hand,

Any classic RTS

Age Of Empires II

OpenRA

Roller Coaster Tycoon series

Theme Hospital / Twin Peaks Hospital

These are examples of games that can be played with just the mouse.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

To expand on this, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 has a FOSS re-implementation called OpenRCT2, and it's considerably better than even the original. I'd recommend Planet Coaster, but honestly, I think the simplicity of RCT2 makes things a lot easier one-handed.

vampire survivors

Old School Runescape

I had a similar situation a few years ago and I filled my gaming void with Diablo 3. I had to bind my side buttons to the abilities. Worked surprisingly well.

OpenRCT2

(may you heal swiftly!)

The first 1/3 of that game is amazing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, it's a shame the NG+ doesn't just stick to it. I'd be happy to just play that style full fledge card game.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Kacee's mod might be the best post game content I've ever played. So fucking good.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Get a controller. I once had a broken arm, too (my dominant arm, to make things worse), but my hands worked fine so I could use my controller without any problems. Hands layed in my lap with the controller, and I learned really fast not to move my whole body to steer vehicles πŸ˜…

Get well soon!

Bloons TD 6 if you're into mindless tower defending

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Crusader kings!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

Flatout 2 (and by extension Flatout Ultimate Carnage and Trail out) are all racing games that work great with just one hand.

Flatout 2 doesn't even have any functions on the mouse

(also I would argue that they are really cool arcade racing games)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

If you emulate, get Zelda games: phantom hourglass and spirit track. You can play those games with just mouse (and mic for stupid blowing thing).

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Won't hurt to try that: https://anuke.itch.io/mindustry

Also, Audiosurf, EDGE and most racing games on PC depending on how you are comfortable to play them on KB.

And if you are into adventure books of games, The Walking Dead and other creations of that studio or in that style usually need to select one of the options in dialogue and that's all.

CORRECTION: Mindustry on PC doesn't have all on-screen buttons it has on mobile, particularly pause button, so it'd need to be binded somewhere accessible. Didn't know that. So it's stupidly easier to play on Android (free) with attached mouse than on PC shm.

One Finger Death Punch

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Original Gothic is perfectly playable with one hand!

Gothic 2 too but less so.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

OpenTTD, Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You could play text based adventure games like Zork.

[–] stoy 3 points 3 days ago

To be fair, any point and click game would work as they only need the mouse.

I am talking:

Zork Grand Inquisitor

Zork Nemesis

Myst

Riven

I just realized that Papers please would be fine as well!

Oh and 80 days would also work

Worms Armageddon

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Worms poped up on my mind first

Most racing games will do as well

Turn based RPGs too I guess (like the first FFs for example)

Classic shooter might do as well (first doom alike ones)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Tomb raider 1-3 trilogy remastered on Steam.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Dead Cells! Bind primary attack to space, secondary to c, and jump to w and it's a super chill game to play one-handed
